About
Hundreds of thousands of people visit BMW's four-cilinder BMW tower and the bowl-shaped museum next to it each year. The museum showcases the technical development of cars and motorcycles and also has some exhibits about the history of the company. Many old cars and motorcycles are on display along a spiral ramp that curls along the inside of the bowl-shaped building.

- UmaSingapore, Singapore19 contributionsInteresting MuseumWe really loved this place. Super old vintage cars till the latest new ones were on display. They also carry motorbikes and other engines. Very well maintained and super modernized. My hubby and son camped for almost 3 hours in this museum. If you are travelling with kids especially boys, please do visitVisited December 2022Written 18 December 2022
- Nana0901Connecticut95 contributionsWanted to see more cars from the BMW family. Just few exhibitions. Not a big exposition of cars. Was expecting more information and exposition of the BMW family. Was very excited to go see the museum, but it had less cars than other museums we visited. The last dew floors is ecological/green information that is very useful.Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten 15 January 2023
- JaniO393 contributionsGood museum experienceVisited while in Munich in mid-February 2023. It was easy for me to enjoy everything about the BMW Museum experience and explored it until it closed. I really liked the kinetic sculpture, Place of Remembrance memorial and BMW sustainable exhibition. No audio guide but there is a BMW Museum app that serves as a personal museum guide. When I visited, guided tours could only be arranged by phone or email but there was no online calendar tool to view guided tour availability.Visited February 2023Travelled soloWritten 10 March 2023
- JPSAttard, Malta76 contributionsA walk through BMW’s extensive history. Worth a visit for any car enthusiastBMW history from the very beginning in extreme detail. Hundreds of Cars, bikes and anything in between. Race cars, movie cars, concept vehicles and they even have an Elvis car. It’s well worth a visit. I do not recommend to take small children if they have trouble obeying and not touching.Visited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 6 May 2023
- AllanJGJWellington, New Zealand3,831 contributionsExcellent specialist museumWhether you're a car junky, a fan of well-designed museums, or a technology afficianado you're likely to love this museum. Lots of beautiful cars and motor-cycles and some fascinating displays on the development of the technology. Also, don't miss the apologetic and apparently honest appraisal of the company's use of slave labour in world war 2. Easy parking (well obviously!), a sensible cafe, and just a few steps to BMW Welt with examples of current models. A pleasant way to spend half a day - particularly when it's raining!Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 May 2023
- boliphan73 contributionsGood tour but just a little too longMy group of college students from the U.S, went to the museum and also the tour. It is a little too long but overall a great experience, It could easily be done in 90 minutes and not two hours. We actually stopped at one point to watch paint dry. The end was the best when we saw how they tested each finished car and how they are made to specification of each country they are going to.Visited May 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 18 May 2023
- Rashid FAlpharetta, Georgia64 contributionsHistory of the Ultimate Driving MachineGreat collection of automobiles and a informative display of cars and motorbikes documenting the history of BMW. The adjacent BMW Welt is free to access but visiting the museum is highly recommended. Parking is easy and the location is easily accessible from highway or bus.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 10 June 2023
- Hossein THouston, Texas127 contributionsAn educational and interesting place to visit on a rainy dayWe visited both buildings. There is paid parking available under the BMW building. This is where they keep the new cars, including the newly purchased Rolls-Royce cars. The cars are for show and you cannot sit inside them to get the real feeling. The museum is a short walk from BMW building and requires a fee to enter. They close at 6 PM. There you can see the progression of the development of BMW motorcycles, and cars since early 1900. Depending on how much you are interested in cars, you can spend a good two hours there. There is an audio guide which we did not purchase since we had only one hour before it closes.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 6 July 2023
- EvaBothell, Washington163 contributionsCool architected building with smallish exhibits. As a BMW owner and aficionado - had to go to the mothership. Was a little disappointed by the smallish size of exhibits and the gift shop was pretty bare, but seeing the history and evolution of BMW’s motorcycles and cars was neat. We are fans of E30 classic style and even saw a similar build. Did you know that they make proto types out of clay? Very cool to see in person. I tried wiping my drool off the M1 Hommage…think I got it. Oh and CE 04 is hands down the most amazing electric scooter ever manufactured! Definitely on my wishlist…Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 July 2023

I am not a big fan of cars but being in Munich, I was told that the BMW museum was a place to go.
I was not disappointed, the trip made me see the evolution of BMW throughout the decades where they ascended and established themselves as being a pioneer in the industry.
I would 100% recommend to everyone.

Lots to see cars, motorcycles, a little of their history using prisoners for labor during well. Go over to welt also to see more and sit on some bikes. Then walk over to the old Munich Olympic site.

Nice place to visit to learn more about the history of the iconic BMW brand. The showroom of the new cars across the street is stunning and was a better visit than the museum to be honest.

What to say, it's a very reasonably priced entry fee and very modern. There is history from the start of the company, lots of open space and modern cars as well as concept cars as well. Don't enjoy the visit much but it's worth the entrance fee. I would like to see a few more historical vehicles and videos regarding its history.

I had the chance to visit in few day Audi and BMW museum and I can tell that Audi is better organized, seems to have more models, free parking and a better shop. On BMW I appreciate the motorcycle part which gives you possibility to seat on the new models.

If you’re a car nut, this is a must see while in Munich. The museum was busy the morning I visited and there was a line to enter the museum due to them spacing out the number of people they let enter at one time. People who had purchased tickets online had a separate entrance. Beware that there are certain items and size bags that are not allowed in the museum. Free lockers are provided, but they require a euro coin which is returned when you retrieve your belongings. The BMW Welt is across the street and is free.
