There is an amazing story to be learned here, following the fantastic lineage of the Bavarian royalty. I am something of a history buff and was amazed to learn so many details of the intertwining that shaped Europe, and the world, over the centuries. The...More

I recommend that you take a quick tour of this museum between the tours to the castles in the area. I can be done in 15 min. If you wish to read all the information on the posters much longer. Not a fantastic collection but...More

We had some time to kill while in Hohenschwangau, so we thought we'd check out the musuem. While some of it is very interesting, by the time we'd already visited both castles and were a little museum'd out. They give you an audio guide, but...More

the best thing about the museum was the free toilet and a good place to visit while waiting for the scheduled tour of the castle

Everyone coming for the castles should also see this museum. It gives all the necessary background on the Bavarian monarchy including during and after world war two. Highly recommended to make time for it, does not take more than 30min.

The museum has very little material. In 20 min you can cover everything and the audio guide don't cover everything. It has a great view to the lake, but you cannot take pictures. The advice is to use your time to enjoy the lake.

The museum is not very big but it is well organized. We visited it after the visit of the first castle. For me was ok but my husband thinks that it could be better.

I found it to be a rich source of information about Bavaria. It nicely displays the cultural heritage and diversity of the region. A must for any history lover.
