The pieces on display were done well from the story of the kings to selected gifts, display of the robe, etc. The problem is that there was a grand ticketing counter that almost seemed bigger than the entire museum. At 11-Euros per ticket, the 15 minutes spent in the museum reading text and listening to the audio guide just wasn't... More

For those of us unfamiliar with the extensive lineage of the family ending with the extravagant Ludvig II, the museum helps the unravel the mystery hundreds of years of Bavarian kings and their rule throughout Europe and beyond. It is quite impressive, modern, and well done, integrating visual pieces and personal audio devices.

The best thing about this museum is that you can visit it anytime you want after purchasing the ticket, without the constraint of arriving at certain times such as the guided tour. It provided very good history of the two castles, as well as the surrounding area. I also need to mention that the lake in front of the museum... More

The Museum der Bayerischen Konige (Museum of Bavarian Kings) in the village of Hohen-Schwangau proved to be a good starting point, providing a useful context for the intricacies of the behaviours and relationships of this particular group of Royals, the House of Wittelsbach. It's a good entree to the two castles and worth doing if you've made the trip to... More

Its a good idea to go here befo first because you will have a better understanding of the castles and the personalities who lived there. The audio tour is not essential if you're willing to read the displays as you go.

This exhibition is so nicely planned that it gives you a comprehensive understanding of the rulers of Bavaria. You will learn a lot and see many valuable artefacts! I am particularly impressed by the whole set of ceramics of more than 300 pieces mounted on the walls! While this is not famous, you should just buy a swan combo and... More

They do a great job of giving you the story and keeping it interesting I think. Certainly worth checking out after the major two attractions and gives an interesting understanding to those with less European family history knowledge about how linked the dynasties of Europe were to two very key splits of one family from Bavaria.

I enjoyed my day having a look here and around the Neuschwanstein Castle, but I think this was better. More to see inside and you can spend longer here than inside the castle.
