Don't touch and don't take pictures in the castle!! 😉

There is a lot to see - not only inside the hotel, but also around it! For example it's wonderful to sit beside the Alpsee or rent a boat in the lake!

I read over 500 tripadvisor and 500 google reviews to plan my entire day at this castle including taking the train from Munich. Everything runs like "clock" work in Germany - and this is no exception. We went the Monday prior to Easter. I had pre-booked everything - from the train/bus/castle tickets. I was traveling with a 9 and 7... More

The castle is beautiful and grand both outside and inside. We drove from Munich and as we got onto the small road that leads to the castle, it became visible from afar. If you drive just like us, there are few spots you can stop along the way for a great photo of the castle. There were so many people... More

Bus was not running so our friend who uses a cane had to take horse carriage part way and then walk up steep incline for last part of climb to castle. Extremely tiring for her. There are elevators but they are not well advertised. Many steps inside castle did not add to the enjoyment of the tour for her. Tour... More

The castle is in a beautiful location surrounded by other castles, a lovely lake, lots of cafes and shops. The walk up to the bridge is well worth the time because the view across the valley to the castle is stunning! However, the whistle stop tour we had through the castle was uncomfortable and rushed. It was hard to take... More

We visited at the beginning of Spring and encountered rain on our hike. The hike offers fabulous views and is totally worth it. Book tickets online or arrive very early in the morning. This is a very popular tourist attraction. We opted for the audio tour. King Ludwig was a visionary and a very interesting character. I was delighted with... More

Well, this was a big disappointment! I am crazy about Gothic Revival architecture so had been looking forward to visiting Neuschwanstein forever. First, we had a complete nightmare getting there. Whilst I was rounding up my teenagers, my mother managed to get us onto the wrong carriage and we ended up at Hohenschwangau. So check your carriage before paying. (It... More

We did an audio tour of this castle which was great, it gave you all the pertinent information and let you move through with a large group. It went for about half an hour. This castle is relatively young compared to most, but is in impeccable condition. I'd highly recommend taking the walk to the bridge behind the castle for... More

This is every bit as beautiful as in pictures. I am so glad I finally got to see it in person. It is quite a hike (we are in our 60's) and most everyone we saw was a bit younger than us on this adventure. Our advice is to start out way ahead of your tour time so you have... More
