Its been several years since we were skiing at Garmisch but we are planning on retuning next year. Without a doubt an exceptional ski resort. The town of Garmisch is one of the best in Germany. It is located on the Austrian Border. We took the tram to the top (a must) and rode the train down inside the tunnel... More

Garmisch-Partenkirchen has upgraded it's facilities to stay competitive with other ski regions close by. It offers a nice combination of skiing and relaxing. If you enjoy skiing as well as tanning on a terrace with a cold beer - you will like Garmisch.

a small and quiet town with beautiful views onto the Bavarian Alps, nice walking, good accommodation and fresh air; typical mountainous wooden and brick architecture, a lot of nice cafes

Go there in summer, and enjoy fresh air, ride a bicycle to the nearby lakes, drink a beer in the open field cafes, visit nearby castles. July is time to swim in the mountain lakes. A very nice place for everybody.

Just like Budapest was two towns initially (Buda and Pest) so it was with Garmish-Partenkirchen. Personally I prefer the only town and architecture of Partenkirchen. Lovely painted fronts of buildings with some nice eating houses along the Main Street. We had a nice meal at the restaurant in the main square that has large shade erected over the many tables.... Even if you are a good skier or a visitor to the village there are things to do. A walk throughout the Partenkirchen village with its lovely facades, a visit to the alpine ski jump stadion or the Zugspitze Bahn to the top are some of the things one can do during a visit there.

I like the view of mountains/alps. They are so beautiful. We had not very good luck on our day to visit in those alps. It was very cloudy at the top so we could only see a small area of the whole view. It was still nice experience to be in the top of Zugsplitze. We did not see the... More

If you haven't been to Garmisch put it on your next winter agenda. The scenery is magnificent. Skiing facilities are good with super ski runs for beginner or pro. The town has many restaurants. One place to visit is Riessersee which is just a short ride (10mns appx) from Garmisch. There is a restaurant with not bad food and a... More
