The trip to the Alpspitz was quite nice. The ride up was a little scared, but that is me. Once on top, you can hike all the way down or part of the way down to another gondola stop. The hike was beautiful and the...More

So glad we hiked this instead of Zugspitze because this one was covered in lush greenery giving us constant beautiful scenery and we could have a look at Zugspitze from Our vantage point.

It was not pleasant cause the weather was tooooo bad - rain, wind, even snow - but I still glad that I made it - mountains are so beautiful. We used a Zugsputz Bahn to get to the Alpspitze and Kreuzebahn station then changed for...More

This mountain can be hiked up from the valley floor, or take a bahn up to the Hammersbach. You can take a trail from there and either hike up the front of the Alpspitz or go around to the back side and hike up that...More

This is probably a more impressive trip to the summit than the higher Zugspitze next door... certainly better if you like to walk down to the mid station before riding by cable car back to base. The "Classic" ticket looks the best bet.

Need car but easy to get to just minutes from town. Reasonably price. No crowds. Easy to intermediate.

We did this experience because the Zugspitz trip was not available due to construction. The trip involves a. Cable car trip up and two separate cable car trips down. The two trips down require a 20 to 30 minute walk between stations. The scenery is...More

My trip up the Zugspitze was somewhat ruined by cloud. The next day I went up the Kreuzeckbahn, then walked from there to the top of the Alpspitzbahn (easy but steep walk, 1.5 hours). The scattered cloud meant just occasional fantastic views of the mountains...More

Thanks to the Alpspitzbahn, anyone can make it up here to enjoy the views. The food at the top could definitely be better, but there's no rule saying you can't pack your own and just purchase a drink up there. Views of the Rheintal are...More

While on a visit for a wedding, the family went to the summit in a cable car for a little walk and view. It was quite nice for the views and the summer spirit that one could see and feel all around. Great views of...More

Birkenstocks would be a no-go. If you are only hiking the section between the Kreuzeck and the Hochalmbahn or from the Hochalmbahn to the Alpspitze with the Garmisch Klassik Ticket, leather boots could be ok, but I would... More

When I was there in August there weren't any explicit restrictions in that regard. I didn't specifically ask about them either though. That being said, there was no one there to monitor whether you climbed to the upper... More

I do not believe there is any type of road heading to the Alpspitze viewing station. The Alpspitzebahn or hiking trails get you there. One of my favorite webcams is up there. If you have not checked them out, google... More
