One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. It resembles a fjord and the tour guide stops halfway down the lake and plays a tune on a trumpet which echoes like nothing I've ever heard before. (It brought the lady next to me to tears).

It was raining when we visited Konigsee but it didn't stop us from taking a boat ride to St. Bartholomew Church. The view along the way was nice and it got even nicer when we reached St. Bartholomew Church. It stopped raining by the time we got there and the sky cleared up so it was perfect for a stroll.... Konigsee is located in the border of Germany and Austria. It was around Christmas holiday when we visited and made the spontaneous decision to take the boat trip to the island where St. Bartholomew church is at. It was a breath-taking ride. The lake was so tranquil, with snow-covered pine trees standing on the surrounding mountains. Our guide said it... More

We loved the beautiful scenery around Konigsee and St Batholoma and found it to be a lovely hiking spot. If you are interested in hiking, make sure you get to St Batholoma early as the hikes take a while and the last boat back at this time of year is 16:30. Sadly, we were unaware of this and didn't make... More

The walk from the parking area to the viewing area takes one through a slew of Shops. The children enjoyed looking at the gem shop. The ducks along side where the boat landing is are curious and provide some entertainmment. To the left and around the buildings are the toliets and the start of a trail that will yield great... The Königssee is so beautiful, with the turquoise water and the surrounding mountains. The best way to enjoy it, is to take a boat ride or hike up the mountain!

A lovely view for quiet reflection. MAKE SURE you take the boat trip to the very end! The end of the lake is the real view and experience. Unfortunately, they do not take boats to the end of the lake in late fall, winter or early spring. Enjoy!

Took the crew and spent a few hours exploring the area. Look online to get the daily schedule and plan around that so you have an idea of when you want to leave/return. The lake is breathtaking and no matter the weather, it's worth the time. The stop at the church isn't much but explore the bank of the lake... More

This was one of our most memorable trips while stationed in Germany. I don't know if it is still the same, but when we were there motorboats were not allowed on the lake. Only sail boats and the electric tour boats. It was an amazing tour of one of the most pristine places in Germany.
