If you are interested in the history of this area go here rather than to the Eagle's Nest. It is absolutely fascinating and gives a real insight into how the Nazi regime took over the area from the locals before the war. There is also...More

We visited this after visiting the Eagles nest. There are no English translations but they do have excellent English pamphlets and the video is well worth sitting and watching. I found it interesting hearing from villages who had known Hitler before and after he rose...More

Considering the importance of the subject and site it’s a disgrace that the information is only presented in German with limited content leaflets available at the sides. They appear to be building a new centre. It cannot come soon enough. Not nearly as well presented...More

Definitely a place to start prior to going up the mountain. There is a lot to see and learn in this place. This is the place to go to see some of the tunnels.

A fascinating museum which shows both the misguided ideals of Nazi Germany and the ensuing horror that unfolded. If you can't read German then I recommend the tourist audio guides which are really excellent and only cost 2 euros.

When I was there on July 1st the bunkers were still under going renovations. Unfortunately so were the hotel bunkers at the hotel. I was disappointed too!

The Documentation Obersalzberg is located a couple of miles east of the town of Berchtesgaden on highway 319. The bus stop up to the Eagles Nest is next to the Documentation Obersalzberg.
