we rented a car and the hotel owner suggested us, to drive through the Rossfeld Panoramastrasse. What a nice time. We went first to the Kiehlstein Haus ( Eagles Nest) . We were at the Rossfeldpanoramastrasse at around 2PM- 3PM . Very very nice place....More
Embarked on this drive while staying in Berchtesgaden. Drive is quite scenic, climbing up the bavarian alps with the pinacle being a spot which gives you 360 degree views with a bit of walking. This includes a view of Salzburg. Also have the opportunity to...More
Konigsee was crazy busy and we couldn't even fathom how the Eagle's Nest might be so we planned instead to drive the Rossfeld Panoramastrasse. Just amazing. So glad we did it. Loved maybe most of all (tied with the views) the locally baked cakes you...More
Toll road at the top of the mountains built by the Nazi regime.
Very beautiful view through the Alps down to Austria.
We stopped at “Ahornkaiser” and took a walk to Putschellerhaus! Down the valley and up the wooden stairs. ~1h. Very nice hut offering...More
We detoured onto this scenic road and paid the 8 Euro toll to do so, but don't let that put you off. It is so worth it! The views are lovely, the road itself is amazing and there are plenty of view places to stop....More

We were staying in Berchtesgaden and so the start of the drive was only 15-20 minutes away. Obviously, it depends on how long you spend out of the car. The drive itself would only be an hour or so. It depends a lot on the weather, if it's cloudy then you will be driving in the clouds, it's pretty high, and probably not stopping often. Even on a misty day, it's worth the trip. Clear spots have fantastic views.
