Berchtesgaden has alot more history information to offer other than being mainly known for Eagles Nest or hitler's house. Visit the Adelsheim Heimat museum to learn about how 'berchtesgaden' developed.

A wonderful find on the outskirts of Berchtesgaden - accessible from the Nonntal; it includes a lot of the traditional craftwork and the hand-made toys are a delight. The exhibits change regularly so we always try to visit.

This is a very reasonably priced attraction that takes about 1 hour to go around. We did so whilst waiting for a tour around the salt mines (15 mins walk away). Lots here about local history and handicrafts. Only negative is limited info in English.
