This nature corner away from the city is perfect for walking or jogging and feels like a safe haven. We had a lovely walk around the lake, although no swimming is allowed here. There is also a self-service cafeteria available: you order at the counter, receive your tray, and then look for a place to sit. My friend and I... More

While this place is great for anyone who likes walking, jogging or picnicking or just getting away from the city, this is a top destination for cyclists. If you are coming from Stuttgart region that take the S-Bah till Universitat and cycle or way to the lake and the part. Some trails are not asphalted, so make sure you have... More

Great facility in the middle of the park/forest area near the lake. Unbelievable daily variety of food and beverage - very reasonable prices. When the weather is good, lots of people are around, so be prepared to wait a little longer. A great place to spend an afternoon!

The Barenseen are one of Stuttgarts most enjoyable places to be. For a coffee or other swabian meals at the Baerenschloessle (castle), in the winter incl. Glühwein, for walking/ running around all three lakes (aprox 5km) or just for relaxing on one of the beautiful sites in the natural woodland and parks.

You must give yourself a full day to experience the beauty and the old fashioned charms of this out of town attraction. The water is beautiful with many waterside paths to wander around in a natural woodland setting. There are of course many more hectic activities but just enjoy the tranquillity at your own pace to get the greatest benefit.

I visited this area with friends and we walked around two of the beautiful lakes to arrive at the Schloss for a appetising, enjoyable and relaxing meal, sitting outside in the grounds of this lovely restaurant. A perfect afternoon!

Stuttgart has many beautiful parks, but this forest with its charming lakes and lovely nature trails all around them, invite you to take a nice stroll and finish off with some lunch or a good coffee at the Bärenschlössle. It'll be great most time of the year, except maybe for terribly rainy days, as the trails get very muddy. Fun... More

You can stroll around the lakes and head to Schloss for a leisurely bite to eat. Or, if you are energetic, you can run, bike or power walk. It is suitable for all age groups and any level of fitness. The main trails are well marked, but you can also walk the less traveled trails, in which case ensure you... More

Just a few minutes drive from the city center, the Barensee is an oasis of calm, with three lakes surrounded by walking paths and rolling hills covered in mature woodland. There is plenty of parking and a fabulous little restaurant at the Baren Schlosse which serves some wonderful cakes and traditional meals. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced...
