We made a reservation in this place 6weeks ago, got the confirmation and confirmation of a specific request, and when we arrived this evening, the hotel was closed! First time in my life it happened, fortunately. It had been closed since February, and no information was sent to us! Can you believe it? So the pharmacy next door advised us another hotel, Hollander Hof, which welcomed us very nicely and where we can stay for a few days. They told us that we were not the only travelers to face such an experience...
so if I could give a 0 grade, I would have done it!
Please stay in other hotels in Heidelberg, where travelers are more considered!

This is possibly the most beautiful building in Heidelberg. It was built in 1592 and now functions as a hotel and restaurant. I came by to simply admire the architecture. The Latin inscription says: Persta invicta Venus ("Always remain undefeated, beauty"). It is a fitting description for the building.

Not only does this beautiful hotel wear its long history well, it also provides a wonderful and classic dining opportunity in the centre of Heidelberg Altstadt. We were served a delicious traditional German meal in a beautiful restaurant with calm and polite ambience. Our waiter was experienced, extremely helpful and gracious. We were given the opportunity to try some of the local wines before making a final decision. So nice to be away from the tourist traps and experience something authentic.

This place was the best. Right in the middle of town square. The streets were a little tight getting there but if you’re driving you can unload in the front. Public parking P12 about a block away. 400 year old hotel. Amazing.

Old world charm by the marketplatz. If you stay there every room is unique. The restaurant has great food, and the view of Heidelberg from the top is spectacular!

Beautiful old hotel (425 years) with large rooms and modern bathrooms. Parking is offsite at a garage, but the property is otherwise ideal.

This Renaissance house (built circa 1592) was the only house left standing after the17th century wars. It was built by a Huguenot (Charles Belier) who fled France due to religious persecution of Protestants. Both his and his wife's characters adorn the building's facade. On the left side are the family coat-of-arms which is a ram (the old French translation means "Belier").

About 100 years after it was built, it served as a City Hall but, for the past 300+ years, it functioned as an Inn. There is a restaurant on site.

It's beautiful exterior borrowed on the style of castles of the day and is particularly attractive due to the horizontal and vertical divisions. This is a true landmark in the historic Old Town of Heidelberg.

The location could not have been any better. The castle was a 10 minute walk. The rooms were very bare and nothing exciting.

Selected this place for a business dinner for a group of 8 people. We had various dietary requirements. Some wanted Game meat, couple were vegan, one Muslim and so on. :-)
they catered to all of our requirements very efficiently. The taste of the food itself was not all that great but it was not bad either. Its an elaborate restaurant and most of the other patrons in the restaurant were in formal attire.
The location is fantastic.

This is an incredibly beautiful building steeped in history. It was built in 1592 by a wealthy cloth merchant for his wife and is almost entirely of stone. This allowed it to survive fires and the war when many other buildings were destroyed. It is the only building of that era left. The style is late Renaissance. The facade of rich red stone is striking with statues, columns, spires and ornate carvings. The interior is equally interesting with its various decor and furnishings. A real treasure!!
