Since we did not want to walk up the hill to the castle, my husband and I decided to take the Bergbahn. The weather was decent, so we bought the extra ticket to go to the top of the mountain. My husband's fear of heights...More

We opted to get out at the stop above the castle first and take in the views of the city. There was a little cafe up there with outside seating and rest rooms. We sat there and enjoyed a cup of tea while looking at...More

A surging mass of people on a Saturday made for a less than perfect visit. The cars themselves are very cool, such excellent engineering. Worth the time for a ride to the top. Enjoy!

Unfortunately it just started raining as we got to the top, but the views were spectacular. The first section is in a modern funicular, but the last section up to the top is an antique wooden funicular, over 100 years old. Its totally worth it,...More

We took this ride when visiting the Schloss. We had toured Switzerland and the funiculars there were more exciting. However, it was interesting visit and we had a superb view of the city of Heidelberg from the top.

We found it very practical hiking upwards and only taking the cable card down. The lower station often has long queues.

Very good but a bit expensive. Ammmmmmazing view of the city from the top destination of the Bergbahn. While coming down, one can enjoy the amazing city view and the natural surrounding.

Takes about 20 minutes to get up there with the "Historical" funicular they're still using. You don't get any better views of the city or the castle from that height. And it takes about 20 minutes again to get down to the castle and then...More

As I mentioned in my review, the Kornmarkt/Schloss multistory car park is just round the corner of the funicular base station. and also steps from the Marktplatz, the center of Heidelberg. A visit to the castle is... More
