- Alexandra GIsle of Thanet, United Kingdom581 contributionsLovely nature walk around the longest waterfallThis is a lovely nature walk with well maintained paths. Steep in places. May be slippery when wet. the waterfall is flood lit at dusk. Took great photos and enjoyed the views. The ticket is for all day and gives free entry to other attractions in Triberg.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 9 October 2023

The hiking was very enjoyable, and can be difficult or easy depending on how high you go. The staff were very friendly and helpful in making sure we knew were informed. There is also a wonderful playground.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 20 October 2023
- Rajesh MBengaluru, India20 contributionsEscapade at Triberg WaterfallsA pretty waterfall. Germany’s highest apparently. Is free to visit if you are staying at one of the hotels in the town. Only 30 minutes to 1 hour needed. We walked till the top of the falls and then made a short walk through the nearby woods which was a very nice experience.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 December 2023

The climb gets a little steep in places but there are benches occasionally if you need a rest. Considering that the cost of the museum entry is included it is very budget friendly.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 June 2024

Sure the waterfalls are absolutely gorgeous, but for us the experience was a bit ruined by the organization.
We didn't do proper research before visiting the waterfalls, so I'll admit that we were part of the problem too. But after driving up the hill to the (small and paid) parking lot, we walked up to the waterfall and were surprised by the ticket booth.
The lady was quite rude, and didn't really say anything except for the fee. This was, if I remember correctly, around 6 euros. I personally think this is quite a steep price for an activity, which is basically formed by nature. If you're a family of four, the fees and parking costs can really add up.
We decided to pay and enter. Truth be told, they maintained the bridges well. I guess that is in part where the money goes to. Also they have set out 3 routes. The Cascade trail, the culture trail and the nature trail. The signs weren't always clear and we ended up on the nature trail. It was a fun route, because you'll have to do some climbing. But I wouldn't dare call this an actual path, because after you've seen the waterfalls, you'll just sort of have to make your way back up a very rocky hill.
Also, along the way we passed a couple more ticket booths. Maybe they could lower the fee if they didn't have this many people collecting the fees.
The waterfall itself was nice to see. It is high and looks spectacular. I was quickly done with it though, because of how crowded it was. Because of the people, and the very set walking routes, it didn't feel relaxed and I had a hard time enjoying the area.
I would personally recommend visiting the Todnau waterfall instead. It is way less crowded, you'll really get to enjoy the forest and it's not any less beautiful than the Triberg waterfall.

Over-hyped tourist trap, billed as Germanys highest waterfall,
Judging by the entry price for a family of 4, I was expecting something to rival the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, but instead was unfortunately greeted by a walk up a hill and a ‘mildly interesting’ waterfall.
The ‘lake’ included in the ‘red cultural route’ was also an anti-climax, it resembled a provincial duck pond bordered on one side by a road with large trucks thundering by… actually free for all to see anyway, along with the church en-route.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE PRICE.

Very pretty waterfall. The trail from the main entrance is steep but worth it. Views can be enjoyed from different levels of the trail. The entrance fee of 8 euro is a bit high for a short natural attraction visit.

The path is all paved though with asphalt and it's not really a true walk into the woods.
The waterfalls are not special but therr are some spots to take picture at them.
I found the ticket to be a little bit pricey, costing 6€

I live in the neighboring town of Triberg and am lucky enough not to have to pay an entrance fee because of my registration certificate. To be honest, I wouldn't have wanted to pay for what is on offer. The Triberg Waterfalls may be a well-known tourist destination in the Black Forest, but in my opinion they are not worth the entrance fee.
Firstly, the amenities on site are extremely limited. There are hardly any benches or other facilities that would make the visit particularly pleasant. You can't help but wonder what the entrance fee is actually for. Nature is beautiful, no question, but charging high entrance fees for a walk through nature seems unreasonable to me.
Secondly, there are much more impressive waterfalls in the Black Forest that don't charge an entrance fee. Just an hour's drive away, for example, is the Todtnau Waterfall - a natural spectacle that is much more worth seeing in my opinion and is also free to access. Or the small, hidden Zweribach Waterfall in the middle of the Black Forest primeval forest, where you can take a short rest at the "Bierbaum". Also a little tip: After 8pm you can also visit the Triberg Waterfalls for free - then there is no one at the ticket counters and you can walk through.
As for the cuisine in Triberg, I am also disappointed. Many of the restaurants seem to be geared towards mass processing - not surprising when you consider that they have to serve up to 1000 dishes a day. The result is a rather average quality, which is further exacerbated by the large tourist buses. My advice: eat outside of Triberg. My recommendations are the Inselklause (Italian gourmet cuisine - advance reservation necessary!!), the Holzfällerstube with delicious juicy steaks in Schönwald or the Pizzeria Galeria in St. Georgen, where you can expect a much more pleasant culinary experience.
In summary: The Triberg Waterfalls are in my opinion overrated and overpriced. There are better alternatives in the region, both in terms of natural beauty and gastronomic experiences.

A small walk up towards the waterfall. There are 3 trails through which you can reach at the top. Entry fee to the waterfall is €6 per person. Worth a visit if you are in Triberg, otherwise not a great sight to specially visit Triberg for the waterfalls.

Don't get confused, it's not the highest but rather one of the longest waterfalls in Germany running down over several cascades. Anyway it's beautiful and they built some nice viewing points and bridges to get a good look at it. If go there early in the morning you can avoid the masses huffing and puffing up and down the steep pathways

Glad we stopped even though it was rainy. Parking is inexpensive and located at top and bottom of falls. Can view the falls with a two minute walk from the top parking lot or can walk to the bottom of the falls in 10-20 minutes depending on walking speed. Lots of shops at the bottom of the falls.

Nice stunt. Asphalt path to access it.
Normally, one could do a route; but badly indicated and not found.
The Award is a bit expensive but it gives access to the Triberg Museum. Very interesting if you read German. Nothing in English. No audiophone.

Hi! I am Kimberly, I will be in Breisach with Viking Cruises in September and I really want to hike through the Black Forest and start here at the Triberger Waterfalls - does anyone have recommendations on transportation from cruise port to the falls? Guided hikes? Any must sees if one wants to really experience the Black Forest? I know I can take a bus to the falls just wanted to know if anyone knows where to get maybe a private car or shared transportation if any? Thank you!
Written 3 May 2019
If I were you I would definitely rent a car online, this is what I personally did with my family, as for the guides, there is an official website for the black forest :
blackforest-tourism
And there is a book that you can get a soft or a hard copy of on their website.

Is it free to visit the falls when having a Konus card?
Written 18 July 2018
I was there last month and we got in for free using our Konus card. I have heard conflicting things though, it might depend on what town your Konus card is issued. We were staying IN Triberg and each Konus card has the name of the town on the back - maybe that's why we got in for free (because our Konus card was from Triberg).

Is deze wandeling te doen met een kind van 5 jaar? Of is er een andere mogelijkheid om tot bij de waterval te geraken?

How much time approximately will i need to explore the area of the waterfalls? Are there opening and closing hours???
Written 23 May 2018
Hi
I guess that two hours will more than enough for the full waterfalls and some forest hiking.
All the info can be found at official triberg web site

We will be arriving to Triberg from Gengenbach by train/bus (public transport), can anybody advise how to get to the falls?
Written 14 May 2018
You go down the steps from the train station road down onto the main road then follow the road all the way up into the town, then right and then just keep going around and up! We found it difficult to find but maybe as it was closed that day. It's next to a kind of small lake/reservoir and there might be more signs when it's open!
