L'Atelier de Soirie is exactly what it's name says - a silk workshop. It incorporates both a retail outlet selling ties and scarves and a working factory area where the silk screening takes place. We visited without having booked a tour and were still able see the silk screening process in action, as well as visit the store. The ties... More

We were directed to this studio by Only Lyon tourist information, but unsure when we arrived. However through the door and we are in the middle of a studio where the craftsmen apply paint and colour to silk. They demonstrated this in two ways - silk screening and fabric stamping. The man we spoke to was in the middle of... More

On a very wet afternoon we went to this silk atelier and the staff were very welcoming, despite the fact they were about to set up for a tour group due in a few minutes. We were invited to listen in with the group but chose instead to head upstairs to the empty showroom and shop to browse without the... More

Wonderful and fascinating place to visit. We had first viewed these beautiful hand done silk scarves on board our River cruise when docked in Lyon. While staying in Lyon we walked over and were amazed with both the quality and quantity of product. This is a delightful visit and fascinating learning experience since you can visit the entire factory and... More

Even if you aren't looking to buy some silk, it is worth to drop by and see how scarf and tie are made. The staff will show you the different way to create the patterns on a piece of silk. The interesting part is the one with the stamping methods; made of woods old of 100 years or more.

This tiny little workshop is a must do! You will see all of their handiwork on sale in the museum gift shops so why not go to the source? We arrived just as they opened and were welcomed by one of the artists who pleasantly and generously showed us around and explained the processes they use to silkscreen, etc. We... More

We arrived just ahead of a tour which was conducted in French so only had a few brief minutes to chat with Gabriel, the craftsman. We stayed for the tour, trying to follow the French. When it was over, Gabriel apologized for the interruption and proceeded to provide us with a personal tour, taking us into the back room and... More

It is a great place - we saw the leaflet at the hotel. We arrived there and there was none to explain to us about it. Then we saw a lady painting and asked her and she was very nice. It is a place with potential. The products are expensive but they are manually painted so...it is normal

We enjoyed our visit to to the only silk screen printers in Lyon open to the public. It was interesting to watch the demonstration.Only one colour is printed at a time. It takes 2 people to do this moving the square with the colour onto the next piece of silk The scarf they were printing had many different colours and... More
