Large plaza but not a lot was going on there during the 3 days we were in Lyon. Clearly an important location for the city, though.

A small museum of "canuts" (Lyon silk weavers) will give you a wonderful experience of silk production and weaving. You can see an authentic Jacquard loom, find how it works and watch the tissue coming out. In the museum shop you could buy a made-of-silk...More

Small but very interesting museum containing all the information and equipment associated with the Canutes and their uprising. The information plaques are in French but books of cards with English translations are available for free.

The museum itself is small, but packed in it are interesting artifacts from Lyon's textile and silk past. English tours given in the morning and French ones in the afternoon...lots of interesting things to learn. If you understand French would recommend adding on the tour...More

Very informative, even better, if you speak French, the museum offers a well rounded inside into the history of silk and its related handcraft. The museum store provides a nice selection of silk goods at reasonable prices.

Very fascinating museum with a workshop. Get some luxury silk items in the museum's lovely shop. Bargains with minor defects of excellent quality too. Ask for care instructions also. Very friendly staff.
