This may be the most underrated site in Lyon! Terrific show summarizing the history of silk industry in Lyon focusing on the development of the loom. Definitely worthwhile.

Such an impressive collection. Two museums and each by itself was stunning. But what a wasted effort. No English translations. Hard to enjoy something so well arranged, that in practice excluded visitors other than French speakers. Still it was impressive. The collection of period French...More

On one side is the museum for decorative arts and the other has fabrics reflecting the silk history of Lyon. Both are stunning. If you enjoy incredible craftsmanship, the decorative arts -- i.e., furniture is displayed and preserved in a period setting. Really lovely.

Beautiful, even exquisite, displays but very frustrating that all texts are in French and no other language. They are missing an opportunity to explain to the world how these fabulous fabrics came about.

Given Lyon's history with silk, this is a museum with a big story to tell. There are wonderful- incredible- pieces on display. The texts are all in French however; while this is not necessarily a problem they could be condensed a little or made more...More

Visit this museum and be amazed at the ancient tapestries that were woven on the most rudimentary looms. Even if you are not normally interested in fabrics you will be blown away by the intricate designs. The tapestries are literally paintings with yarn! There is...More

Le Musée des Tissus and le Musée des Arts Décoratifs are situated in two separate buildings in the same site. A single ticket allows entry to both museums. On the day of my visit, there's an interesting exhibition in Le Musée des Tissus. However, the...More
