Not hard to access. Worth the trip. Take the funicular and walk down back to the city. Take pictures every step of the way. Lyon appears much larger than one think it is just by walking the city streets. It is really an impressive city with a lot of power. The view of the Cathedral from the Fourviere is breathtaking.... We walked up and it is certainly a good climb. Came down on the funicular using our day pass. Not sure why we did it that way round, but the exercise was good. Fantastic views over Lyon and lovely buildings so worth the visit.

There's quite a climb to get here but it's worth it for the view and the ability to visit the adjoining church with the Black Madonna and Christ Child.

The views from this area are fantastic, especially on a clear day. We went up on the funicular but you can also take the steep walk up. Luckily the day we were there, there was only a slight haze, so the panoramic views were something to behold.

This hill is one of the top sight of Lyon which you should not miss. This can be accessed by the hill train F1 or F2 or you can walk from old lyon also. From this hill, you can get the magnificent view of lyon and in summer you can have the opportunity to see the MONT-BLANC mountain from Lyon.... More

From this hill you can see forever on a clear day. Supposedly you can see Mt. Blanc when it is clear. Otherwise you get a good panoramic view of Lyon looking down on the Old Ville and across the penisula to the new built up area of Lyon. This is close to the Basilica so can combine this with a... The funicular ride is the first part of the fun - arriving at the hilltop at the front door of the basilica is the second part. Spend 30 minutes walking around the walled courtyards behind the basilica, nosing around the few shops, snooping into windows of the pricy apartments then go in the basilica for at least an hour visit....
