Its well worth a visit for the view over Lyon alone. We commenced our holiday in Lyon with a trip on the City bus and alighted at the Fourviere and reboarded after our visit. This saves you a bit of a climb.

Unfortunately the Church was closed when we were there, but it was still very impressive from the outside and the view from around the church was amazing. One could see whole Lyon from there and it was also very romantic at night.

Amazing place and I have been to St. Paul's, so beautiful all in mosaics and fantastic view of the whole of Lyon, funicular rail ride excellent. Accessible by limited mobility persons so don't be put off and if driving disabled spaces right outside.

Views are gorgeous but the inside of the basilica itself is really quite something too! You can hike up and down or take the funicular tram for 2.80 return

Well with the current tense and tight security situation in Paris and France , I wouldn't be surprised if you were not searched .
