A lovely natural gorge with well maintained bridges. I'm not sure I would bring children under 5 (unless in a baby carrier). Not stroller friendly, and it's quite a bit of walking in tight spaces. Not overly expensive, clean bathrooms and a nice little bar...More

I admit it freely - I'm afraid of heights and this outing got the better of me! It's really incredible to see how the water has formed this gorge and to see it roaring below. I had issue with the narrow, wooden, slatted walkway - it was...More

Incredible force of water and the gorge is narrow and the water has carved intriguing rock formations. Well worth a visit, it took about an hour to go through and back.

We were staying in Annecy and had read about the Gorges. Since we had no car, with our limited English, we ordered a taxi to take us there. Nice 20 minute ride. Fortunately, there were only a few people while we were there. Not sure...More

This is such a fantastic place to visite. But do come early so you can have some space - it can get rather crowdy. We came as they opened and was the second ones to enter which means we had the place nearly to ourselves...More

The gorge is narrow and deep and the walkway snakes along the left wall at about 20 metres above the bottom. Gret to see the water high points 5 metres above your head! And don't miss also visiting the lovely Chateau de Montrottier which is...More

This activity takes about an hour and you will see a beautiful canyon. The walk is relatively easy to do. It costs 5.7 euro per adult.

This was a great experience for both the kids (4 and 6 years) and parents. The walk was about an hours walk and the views were great. Quite amazing what nature can do.

Can't be of much help on the subject. When I visited Gorges du Fier, I don't recall seeing any taxis around. If you are already visiting Annecy, you can enquire there. But, it'll definitely be more than a few Euros.

It is a bit complicated, but it is possible to go to the Gorges du Fier by bus. However, it should be noted that the number of buses that go there is VERY limited. There are two options : First option, take bus #1 or #6... More
