An arch in the middle of a building site, can't get close enough to see this properly. No signage, even temporary. Only came across this by accident, glad we didn't make a special trip but it was nice to see.

The Arc itself looks impressive, but sadly the whole area surrounding it is under construction so it's inaccessible...plus the neighbourhood it's in seems a little run down, I didn't feel too safe wondering around there. Hopefully it's being restored to its former glory and the area redeveloped but for now I'd give the area a miss.

A monument in a street under construction ( for a long time), totally abandoned , dirt and unsafe to walk.

This place is under construction and smells horrible. The arc itself is beautiful but quite small. The area surrounding it was very restless. A lot of people hanging near it, smoking weed and they were driving scooters on the sidewalk. I took a picture and left as soon as I could.

The arc de triomphe is meant to be a celebration of all things French. Shouting about all the triumphant actions they have taken as a nation. Unfortunately this arc de triomphe is nestled in the middle of never ending road works, alcoholics, hobos and gypsies. It was a complete shock to the system for it to be so run down... More

Plus: The Arc, the view from the top, the underground metro/subway, the traffic at the round-about... Your senses will be overloaded with appreciation and impression for the French (once) superior. Minus: Watch out for taxis and motorbikes when you cross the street. They are very agreesive drivers.

The Gate of Aix was finished in 1839 after France had beeen swinging to and fro from monarchy to republic, the project having been first mooted in 1784. This is a fraction of the size of the Arc De Triomphe in Paris and reminded me of London's Marble Arch, except that this one looked to be of limestone. The surrounding... More

The Arc de Triomphe is impressive, but the surrounding area is undergoing serious restoration, it is best avoided at this stage.
