the square itself is not really something special, but there are some nice restaurants around for dinner or just for a drink. no big highlight in Marseille, but still a pleasant area.

This large square inspired by the famous Piazza Navona in Rome is located near the Old Port of Marseille. It used to be an ancient channel that accommodated the galleys but gets its name from the barrels of oil that were unloaded and mainly used by the soap factories in the early 1900. The canal which included the Cours Estienne... More

Directly off vieux port. Lined with affordable restaurants - so a street to check when looking for your evening dinner.

The place is big and its position a bit surprising (for me) - you get on a huge square with no traffic in the middle of a traffic jammed marseille. It is rather soothing! THere are lots of restaurants and cafés here, but definitely not the best ones

As in the title, a place to buy something that you really don't need , but would like to buy ..., some cafes nearby and a nice atmosphere.

Just in from the eastern side of the Vieux Port, this square gives you a real feel for Marseille. It is full of bars and restaurants and has a great atmosphere, especially in the evening. It's very touristy - but so is the Vieux Port; and let's face it, as afficionados of Trip Advisor we are all part of the... More

I visit this square a lot as it "on top of" the most used underground parking in the "Vieux Port" (Old Port) in Marseille....the reason for this review is that I have eaten at a couple of the many restaurants in the square and they're all pretty OK....however they renovated an old building at the parking garage entrance and made... Went for lunch there, you have the choice, fish, meat, cheap, expensive, outside, inside, and the lay out is friendly and make you feel confortable. Good for lunch

Wonderful square just off the Vieux Port. The square is a haven for diners who are looking for value and atmosphere. One of my biggest regrets is that we never managed to experience the quality of the food despite setting off there on the final night of our visit to Marseille. Road works were in progress which resulted in changes... More

There's a lot of restaurants here so watch out. Very near the old port so stroll through. Many cafes and bars and restaurants at all price levels. Use a tourist map and also see Place Thiars next door.
