Beware the beach is rocky, so if that does not suit you, not a good idea. However the views of the sea and the city are superb and it is easily accessible by foot.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 February 2024
- Christina RPortland, Oregon112 contributionsA lovely spot on the Nice waterfrontWe spent the day at Castel beach club and we really enjoyed it! The service was excellent and attentive but not pushy or aggressive. Everything arrived promptly and the food and drink were really good. Food was a good value for relative places in Nice. Really enjoyed our day here and would recommend to others.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 29 June 2024
- Mstaashaa1Manchester, United Kingdom31 contributionsChilled beach day!Had a nice chilled day at Castel, made reservations online and were seen to quickly on arrival! The customer service is 10/10, everyone was friendly and professional! Towels provided, good ambiance, It’s a pebble beach which we prefer over sandy beach, the water was beautiful! Food was good but very seafood heavy menu, would recommend the chicken Caesar salad it was the best one I’ve ever had!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 August 2024

- RachelChicago, Illinois46 contributionslocation!Good atmosphere, easy to get in the water considering the rock beach (they have ropes), good service! Chairs were okay but could be comfier, view was amazing! Lots of seating, easy to book in advance. At the end of the beach in the corner so some strong winds are blocked which is good and allows for more privacy.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 September 2024
- Jo DUnited Kingdom11 contributionsFabulous day at Castel PlageFabulous beach club, comfy loungers, easy to get in/out of the sea and food was great. Service was outstanding, it was busy but our waiter kept on top of everyone, knew when we needed something and even moved umbrellas to keep us in shade without us asking. Highly recommend!Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 September 2024

An experience NOT to be reproduced, never again!!
We were there for a business / friendly dinner with a party of 7, with the firm intention to enjoy good time together after a long period of remote work due to the sanitary crisis we have been facing to date.
First of all, as a fine wine lover, I brought a bottle from home to share our pleasure to be together again, just as an appetizer, with the intention to order more wine for diner. The owner, via his staff member, stricly refuse us to open this bottle, even paying a fee. We had it on the beach in "cafeteria" type of glasses prior to the diner.
Second, the food was average, and on my side it was just awful. I took black ink spaghetti with seafood, which ended up to be rubber seafood, bad smell / taste due to a questionable freshness of the food. I left most of my dish untouched.
Last but really not the least, our waiter did not wear a mask… to be honest, he was wearing a mask, but on his throat!! We gently mentioned it to him asking for the rule of the restaurant in that regard. He answered that the rule was clear and the mask was mandatory for the waiters. He said that he will wear his mask properly after this, but he came back with his mask on his throat again, and finished the diner with no mask. Other waiters were wearing masks properly, but not ours. All kitchen staff were NOT wearing masks at all.
Given the current circumstances, I found this was a lack of respect for their customers, and I personally did not feel comfortable when the waiter was approaching us like this.
On a positive side, yes the view is nice, but my recommendation is to enjoy it somewhere else. You'll get a much better experience.
Thanks for reading, and stay safe.

My partner and I visited Castel Beach on July 8th and 9th, 2024. At first glance, the beach appears gorgeous, providing a sense of isolation from the bustling, touristy Nice. However, the staff are quite adept at deceiving guests.
July 8th was our first day in Nice, and we chose Castel Beach due to its high ratings on multiple websites. Upon arrival, the hostess attempted to shortchange us by €20 when we paid the entrance fee with a €100 banknote. We noticed the discrepancy but assumed it was an honest mistake. After some time in the sun, we felt thirsty and requested tap water, which they offer free of charge. Instead, we were given €9 Evian water without any notice, and this was later added to our total bill, which came to €160: €60 for the entrance fee and €100 for food.
Despite these issues, we decided to return the next day, July 9th. We did not make a reservation. According to their website, “specific locations cannot be reserved”, and there is no mention of preference for booking over non-booking guests.
We arrived at 9:30 a.m. when the beach was nearly empty (only 10 out of 350 sunbeds were occupied). We were offered seats in the 5th row and told that everything else was "occupied," even though only 20 other people were on the beach. When we requested seats in the second row, the manager rudely refused, almost threw our money back at us, and asked us to leave. He gave us exactly 10 seconds of his "precious" attention before walking away. We had planned to spend seven days in Nice and around €1,120 at Castel Beach.
In conclusion, I do not recommend Castel Beach due to its poor customer service. The staff do not treat customers with respect, and they attempt to overcharge and deceive guests. This beach is not worth the money or the hassle.

Typical Nice beach with large round pebbles. Unfortunately, the loungers are much too tight, you can hardly get through if you have to go to the restaurant or toilet. The umbrellas are very simple, not tiltable. The loungers, too. You don't have shelves for things, on the ground the white stone rubs off on things. It is good to have your own beach carpet or mat. There is no adequate locker room or acceptable shower for the price. The toilet rooms have been unkempt from floor to mirror and not thoroughly cleaned for a very long time. In Italy you can find much better sets for this expensive price.
You are not allowed to drink your own drinks from the refill bottle you brought and even have to buy the water there.
At 6 p.m. you have to clear the loungers.
The two restaurants of the complex are overpriced and of poor quality including unprofessional service.
There is nothing for children, probably unwanted.
The money (around 30 for lounger and umbrella) can be saved. Just spend the day on the public beach, or somewhere else.

Castel beach is one of many beaches along the Promenade des Anglais. Rocky indeed but a Million dollar view. The clear azure colored water is truly magniicante.

The views from the beach were amazing and sunbeds were comfy. Service was not the best, slow and disorganised, but the staff were friendly. Prices for drinks (even water) were extortionate and pressured to tip, despite poor service. Wifi was patchy and kept disconnecting. Overall it was ok, but would not return here again.

A group of us made a booking for Castel Plage over the weekend. Baba was our waiter and he was super friendly and made us feel so welcome - incredibly attentive. Food was delicious! All round great experience!

This is an amazing film set - built up in Spring and taken down in autumn. It is quite something to see happen. We booked chairs for the day and were granted second row position. Frankly, we didn’t like their quality of the clientele - lots of weirdos and brassy types, and on the basis we wouldn’t come back in a hurry. There are better beach clubs nearby. Lunch was decent.

I read somewhere that staff were really attentive here, but my experience is quite the opposite. Too many people and understaffed. They are doing their job but nothing more. I recommend the Radisson beach club any time over this. Smaller, more intimate, stylish. Food is far better and service so much better.
What really is good here- water is super clear and access to the water a little less painful if you don’t have beach shoes.
We had reserved online but there was a super long aura with a mix of people that had not reserved and those who hadn’t. They should definitely arrange for a better system to minimize waiting time for those who have already booked.

More than a castle a prison.
I state that we have been there several times and despite the high prices we have always enjoyed it, but unfortunately this year there are news clearly worse and not worthy of such a place. In addition to the rude staff (except the waiter who unfortunately was blameless for the choices of the “managers), the tourist trap.
After about an hour we had arrived, since the sky was cloudy and there was a cold wind, we decided to take a ride downtown. At the exit we were informed that if we left we could not return! When I asked under what law, they showed me a piece of paper in front of the register with small print as communicated. Well after paying 60 euros for an umbrella and 2 sunbeds being deprived of the freedom to take a walk outside as well as being absurd is really bad taste. When I asked for the motivation they told me that then people go to eat elsewhere...
I don’t think even the worst marketing manager in the world could invent to “trap” customers to force them to consume.
And I also point out that we have always had lunch and sometimes dinner in the place. Those who spend 60 euros on umbrellas and figured sunbeds if they have problems spending as much or more for lunch. Of course we'll never come back. If you value your personal freedom, avoid this place.

I am presently at Castel Plage and finding everything very pleasant. My question is this: the online price is listed as 30€ for a sun bed and 7€ for towel rental. Yet, I was charged 50€ and told, when I asked, that it was the package price. The staff member waiting on me was quite supercilious and I let it go, since I was more concerned about the discrepancy than the actual cost of being here. I do wonder, however, whether I, as a single, senior woman, was treated — and charged — differently. This was not a language problem; the staff member appeared to speak excellent English and I speak French fluently.

Do you have to rent a chair for each person in the family? We want to relax while our children swim.
Written 15 May 2023
do we have to reserve a table, way ahead?
Written 12 August 2019
On the weekend the place is quite busy, so I would better reserve just in case. If there are work days there is no necessity.
Written 13 August 2019
Are there any times where you are not allowed on the beach.
Written 27 June 2019
Yes, the police will throw you off at around 4am when the cleaning teams arrive. Don't try sleeping on the beach, you'll either be fined by the cops or robbed or both.
