Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You can make your own perfume at this place, but you must reserve ahead of time, space is limited. We made our own perfume and the staff here was amazing. We almost missed it due to limited space and time. This place is good, but the staff makes it excellent. It costs 40 euros to blend your own perfume and you take a large bottle home with you. They also keep your info on file, so that when you run out, you can contact them online, and they re-make your perfume and ship it to you. It took a little over 2 hours. A must do for perfume lovers!

The workshop was conducted in a light, stylish room behind the retail area.
The instructor was very helpful and approachable while she explained the perfume blending process. We were left to take our time smelling and selecting different fragrances from a choice of 90 bottles on the giant lazy susan. Sample strips were then dipped into our favourite scents from each level - top notes, middle notes and base notes. Sensory overload is a real possibility, so each person has a bowl of roasted coffee beans to move around and smell, to reset our noses for further smelling.
After our choices were made, the instructor returned and reviewed our selections, suggesting which aromas were complimentary. Her expertise and skill were impressive as she guided us to narrow our preferences. After the right combination of scent was reached, the recipe was written down. We were then shown how to pipette the correct amount of each fragrance into an 50ml atomizer bottle to take home. Our perfumes were given individual ID numbers so that we can purchase additional amounts of the perfume in-store or online in the future,
This was a fabulous experience if you enjoy wearing perfume and are searching for a signature fragrance of your own.
I will do another perfume workshop if I visit Nice again.

Our group had some pressure before this workshop but it soon turned out you really don't have to know anything about perfumes beforehand. Just pick the scents you love from a wide selection and you'll get help in mixing the unique perfume for you. You'll be ready in about 60 minutes with a 50 ml bottle of perfume and a certificate.
Note: We paid the workshop with Viator voucher and did book the time for the workshop well before the date. However, the reservation didn't seem necessary and most of the time you could probably just walk in to this experience.

Just returned from week long trip to French Riviera ( 7/17- 7/25). I'm 32 years old and went with my mother and 2 other friends. We were stationed in Nice and had read the positive reviews before hand about the perfume making experience at Molinard which was within walking distance to the place we stayed in Nice and were very excited about the prospect of making our own perfume. We booked through Viator.com the week before hand and went on the Friday prior to leaving.
Process- Overall, on Viator. com you are promised 1) Instruction on the history and origins of perfume, 2) Guidance and discussion from an instructor while making the perfume and 3) the production of your own perfume. I received #3 but #1 and #2 were lacking. Although we were the only ones in the shop at 10:15 AM, we were essentially left completely alone throughout the process. We received a brief ie ~2 minute introduction to the three bases a perfume entails and left with no exaggeration ,~100+ bottles of perfume to smell on our own. The instructor though pleasant remained at the front of the store and came to check on us every 20 minutes to ask if we had chosen our scents. I initially thought this was part of the process and after we chose our scents we would receive further instruction but this did not happen.
Our instructor was fully present when we weere done smelling all of the bottles to help us decide which scents blended the most and did stick around to help us pipet the perfumes into the bottles. By then , I honestly had a headache from smelling so many bottles. A little guidance at the beginning based on our initial tastes in perfume , might have helped us avoid having to smell so many scents which became confusing after some point ,even though we were provided with coffee beans which "clean the nasal palate".
Product..... Overall , I love the way my perfume smells. It is definitely me and I appreciate the little certificate I received at the end, as I know exactly what is in my perfume and can find it whenever I return. Mom has remarked however, and I have to agree with her, that the SCENT DOES NOT LINGER LONG AND IS WEAK IN QUALITY . I sprayed mine on as I typed this review just to test her theory and it has already faded. However, the small sample of "the Habanita" they gave us as a gift still remains strong.
Summation - Although there are many positive reviews here, I can't agree. I paid 77 USD X2 on Viator.com for this prior to leaving for Nice and received a 20 USD experience and product. Make sure if you decide to book that you get what you paid for i.e instruction , discussion, guidance, and a good product. Honestly, could have saved the money and bought a good quality perfume and a couple of crepes .... You've been warned :)).

today I had a perfume workshop, and I can't for the life of me remember the name of the lady who took care of me, but she was brilliant!!! Together we designed something very special, suiting my own tastes and personality. She told me so much about her work and about how different people are attracted to different scents and why it works that way. I will 100% be back again in the future!!

A gloriously fun experience. The staff were delightful, professional but also fun. Anastasia in particular was excellent - knowledgeable, attentive and pitched it at just the perfect level for absolute beginners with no talent like us!
My only note is that various lengths (and prices) of workshops are offered on Molinard’s website - yet on that particular morning everyone was lumped in together - perhaps due to staffing levels?
Like I said - both staff members were exemplary, but clearly stretched a little thin as they also had to manage the retail store.
Perhaps management should have more people on shift. Needless to say we did not create the next Habanita or Shalimar… in fact mine is reminiscent of an overbearing, overly bitter dead Joan Crawford… but still - a thoroughly enjoyable time had by all and I’d recommend it.

Visited Molinard in the month of February with my wife.
Our hostess and perfume expert, helped my wife and I create one-of-a-kind perfumes. It was a fun, engaging, and creative experience.
You can make your own perfume at this place, but you must reserve ahead of time, space is limited. We made our own perfume and the staff here was amazing.

I had read about this on one of the travel guides and saw it on the bike tour of the city. We went in on the last day of our 10 days in France. I had several items I wanted to get as gifts. The brunette was not very helpful. So much so as if we were bothering her. It was four of us and 2 people including myself purchased. The parfums are awesome. I bought Campus, Teck, Nirmala, Miss and Habanita l’Esprit. We walked around the store and only received assistance after asking. Otherwise she stood behind the counter and just watched us. There was a blonde woman that seemed to be more helpful. Not realizing until after we left the store I was not offered the tax information for my purchases. Luckily the helpful woman took care of it and also gave me a card to use next time, all while the other woman was on her phone sitting behind the door.
This type of business requires a certain level of service. The 15-20 mins we were in there it was pretty empty. The sales associate seemed helpful to other customers yet we were the only ones that made purchases. Had the perfume been just okay we would not have bought anything. I'm glad I went and the product has its own uniqueness.

I'm interested in visiting and possibly shopping here. Are the creations about the same price as a department store, or are they far more expensive?
Thank you.

Were the elements that you used in this class natural botanicals or just chemicals?

Natural I believe. They still pick the flowers by hand near Grasse.
