It is a somewhat long walk from the city centre but it was really worthwhile. The cohesion of the works that were made for this space was impressive. We learned a lot about Chagall and his works. Although we don't usually use the audio tour,...More

This collection of Marc Chagall's work is excellent. There is a 9 euro admission charge and audio is available. There is also a gift shop and cafe on the grounds. The primary works located within are from Chagall's Biblic and French Riviera collections. When this...More

I didn't know much about Marc Chagall beforehand, but I found the museum and paintings quite interesting. You should go if you are just a tad interested in Chagall's work.

This is a museum that Chagall himself was involved in designing and setting up, so by visiting it one does not only have the opportunity to admire his exceptional Old Testament paintings, but one leaves with a greater understanding and appreciation for this great artist,...More

I'm not generally a lover of Chagall's work, but I found this museum to be very satisfying. It focuses on his later paintings with religious themes reflecting his Jewish heritage, several of which are both spectacular and moving. The museum is nicely laid out and...More

I'm not a Chagall fan per se, but I loved this museum because of the thematic layout. You really get an opportunity to appreciate an entire period and movement of art given the high concentration of pieces from one artist.

If you only have time to visit one art museum, choose this one over the Matisse museum. The collection is housed in a lovely setting and building and includes works that are recognizable and important. The Matisse Museum is in an old house with little...More

Chagall gave France the gift of the paintings he completed while living in Nice that you will find in this gorgeous museum. It is a place that will leave you with a peaceful feeling and greater appreciation of this artist and the Old Testament.

The museum celebrates the years Chagall lived in Nice and his love for the city. It carries the beautiful works he completed during his time in Nice and although it may not have his most famous masterpieces it does have a unique, generous collection, full...More

Is there a ticket that covers both Chagall and Matisse museums? Can you walk from one to the other? What is the average time spent at each museum? Are there cafes, restaurants nearby?

No. The cafe at the Chagall museum is very pleasant. You can walk from one to the other but if you see my review of the Matisse museum you won't waste your time. Chagall is between 1 1/2 and 2 hours.

I am a big fan of Marc Chagall's works and have many poster prints. Is there a gift shop in his museum? Does it include coffee table books and prints? I am trying to budget for my trip so if these items are available does anyone know the price ranges of these items? Thanks.
