When we were in Nice two years ago, the Russians had reclaimed St. Nicholas and we couldn't enter because of on-going renovations. We were told it was incredibly beautiful, having been built by the Romanovs to use during the winters when wealthy and titled Russians wintered on the Riviera. Last year in St. Petersburg, we visited the Church of the... More

This unusually beautiful cathedral is very interesting. Though it's free to go inside, there is also a pay-for-it tour that is worth the time and money. You will learn about the connection of the Russian Tzars with southern France, and the some of the symbolism and practicality of the gold-covered icons displayed throughout the church.

It was my first chance to visit a russian orthodox church, so I really enjoyed the experience. It is a good half hours walk away from the old city. It has a little churchyard park around it, where it is very peaceful.

One would not expect to find such an outstanding Russian cathedral in a French city but it is there and amazingly well preserved, since it was built in the 1800's. It is also easy to get to, because it is a fairly short walk from the main train station. It was open when we were there, and the inside was... More

One of the best Cathedral in the Western Europe which has resemblance to the Russian orthodox cathedral. Located very close or walking distance from the Nice central SNCF station. The Russian orthodox cathedral looks amazing outside for a moment it feels like you are in Russian land Moscow or St Petersberg. It's amazing inside out and a must see in... More

The Catheral is pretty incredible and very beautiful. However, the staff spoil it. There are a million rules nailed to the gate before you head inside with some being "no sitting with your legs crossed. This is not a cinema." You cannot take pictures either, or pretty much do anything bar stand inside and stare around you. The way the... More

I am so pleased that I made the walk to discover the Russian Cathedral. It is a beautiful building both inside and out. Really unusual to see Russian architecture nestled amongst the Belle Époque of Nice but it works...well worth a visit!

We walked a long way from the old town to try and find this Church however it was well worth it. It is a spectacular building. We took several photos before entering but were told not to take any of the interior. The interior was indescribably beautiful with gold and blue being the dominant colours. A must see if you...
