About
Former residence of the Marquise de Cabris, sister of Mirabeau, the mansion of Clapier-Cabris houses the Provencal Museum of Costume and Jewel since 1997. Patiently assembled by Helene Costa, the exceptional private collection of the museum is composed of costumes and Provencal jewels from the 18th and 19th centuries: dresses, lace ornaments, headdresses ... These clothes tell the story of the Provencales, the peasants, the craftswomen and the bastidanes of our region. Open every day from 10h - 13h and 14h - 18h30 (Closed on Sundays of November, January and beginning of February). Free visit, explanatory leaflet on request.

This small but interesting museum is a nice break from the perfumeries. I'll highly recommend it if you have 30min to spare and is interested in the evolution of women's dresses in the 19th century in the region. The small collection of lace is very beautiful. The entry is free. However, the descriptions are only in French.

A free to enter tiny museum but worth it if you have even a passing interest in fashion or history. These are beautifully laid out displays of female fashion of the 1700s. I recommend pas using for a moment and considering the elegance of the dresses despite the lack of modern machinery - these are dresses, laces and materials hand-stitched, hand-blocked and hand-embroidered. Quite exquisite in detail and worth a moment of your time.

This is one of several small places to visit near Fragonard. It houses exhibits on the costumes and jewelry of different periods as the collections change. When we were there, the focus was on ladies undergarments and how they changed as women's place in society changed. All signs are in French so bon chance!

An outstanding collection of Traditional Provencal Costumes and Jewelry. Well presented to enable the viewer to get close to the details on each mannequin.

It's a small museum, tucked away on a side street, but so worth a visit! The display of clothing and personal items is exquisite. We savored every moment there and highly recommend a visit. Fabulous place.

We were 4 adults and 1 child and visited in August.
Lovely costumes, very well made with lots of details. There is also some jewellery which my 8 year old daughter loved to see, even though I had to pick her up and hold her for her to see as the displays were too high for her.
There are stairs and no lift in this museum so people who have mobility problems or young children should take note.
Price is free entry.

I liked the 17th century house on three floors and a little garden with mixed exhibits: house, costume, painting, furniture, an authentic kitchen. Entry costs 2 euros and you get more than that.

A very strange place, accessed through the Fragonard shop.
It was FOC, only in French.
Ladies costumes well displayed but most paintings not labelled so no idea why they were there.
Whole place was gloomy and dark; couldn’t see one display of jewellery because there was some Chinese etching on the glass!
Finally towards the end there were jewels well lit and displayed in individual small cabinets.
Hilarious choice of wallpaper which actually blended in with some of the costumes, so you couldn’t really make them out.
Killed a few minutes we guess.
