The market from early in the morning till early afternoon is fantastic meat cheese, vegetables spices you name it it’s here early evening. The market is cleared and the restaurants put out all their tables and chairs out for the evening diners . there is a public beach on the other side of the old town wall. as well as the marina full of expensive boats, don’t miss it.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 September 2023
- Malcolm DCrick, United Kingdom747 contributionsA MUST on visiting AntibesAmazing ‘vibe’ when walking around the old town and ramparts. The scenery both inside the town and ramparts are amazing; especially the architecture of the buildings. Great views from the terraces across the bay and along the coast.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 September 2023
- sskrollOrlando, Florida1,089 contributionsGreat ExperienceA great place to visit as there is so much history there. You can see Fort Carre from outside the walls of the city. There is also a great Provencal Market that is a must visit for all kinds of food. Also stop in at the Perrin Ravioli for some great pasta as well as other food items. Very friendly people. There is a harbor right outside the city walls to walk around and there is a section outside the walls as well with some great murals.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 December 2023
- LittleDan500Liverpool, United Kingdom331 contributionsLovely place to stroll aroundI was staying in Nice and travelled here for a day and loved it. I didn't think I would need another day but it was a beautiful day visit. There's some great artists selling their works here, lots of little shops and plenty of restaurants. The beach is cute as well with a little space to the right of the beach where you can sit on a rock at the bottom of the castle walls.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 27 May 2024

We parked at the underground parking by h the marina and Old Town - this was easy, spacious and very clean. We went to the Ferris wheel to see the area, but it wasn’t operational that afternoon. We walked to the Promenade on the medieval wall and wanted to see “The Nomad” scull, but it was blocked off for renovations. We walked past the Picasso museum and seeing the line up to get in, we passed by, but the outside was nice (old church). Inside the Old Town, I tried to buy a few postcards and small items with my card, but I was told ver rudely on 2 businesses, that there was a 6euro minimum unless you had cash. It was very jarring to be treated this way, but they mustn’t have needed any of my small business. We decided to have a gelato at a spot and left the town.
Not very friendly, but the views are pretty.

I stayed in old town Antibes for 12 days and absolutely loved it! A lively beautiful small town by the sea. You can stroll around the city through the alleys and explore its beauty. I loved the easy pace of life, as well as the fact that local people always wore a smile on their faces. The old town itself has many cute small cafe/bristot and restaurants. The only downside for me was the fact that if you're a night owl (like me) there is not much to do after 21:00.

I'll be scathingly honest on this one. The cote d'azur is peppered with charming old towns and seaside old towns. So, as a longtime resident of the golfe of St Tropez, I don't quite understand the hype. Sure, it's pretty, but it's nothing special. The alleys aren't as colourful as Saint tropez, Ramatuelle, or Bormes. The houses aren't as ancient (or at least ancient-looking) as Eze, Saint Paul De Vence, St-Agnes, or Coaraze. I could continue of all the areas in which it just isn't a contender. It just doesn't have a "wow"factor so strong it makes the hordes insignificant.

Lovely old city on the French Riviera. We spent part of the day here, exploring the port, old town, the beach, Picasso Museum. Had lunch at a small restaurant then headed to Cannes. We loved it.

"The only city of the Cote d'Azur that managed to preserve its soul so well." (Graham Greene). Some believe that in Antibes "only time to lose". I don't know, we liked it. There is no hustle and bustle of the big city, luxury and splendor of neighboring Nice, Cannes or Monaco. It is interesting to walk along it, looking into narrow courtyards. The streets are very nice and colorful in a southern way.

Is Old Antibes a realistic destination for a person on crutches? I have plans to visit this weekend but just sprained my ankle. Thanks

I think you won't face an issue with it because there are no hills/slopes or stairs you'll have to climb up within the city. If you take it easy, I think you'll be able to enjoy the beauty of old town. Plus there are a lot of bistros/cafe in the 2-3 main squares of old town where you can have a rest while enjoying the scenery and its people

When is the best time to go to Antibes? The day time or evening? Will shops be open on Sunday and Mondays?
Written 22 July 2018
I recommend going late in the afternoon, most shops are open and you can spend some time roaming through the old town.
