came to visit cousin in Avignon during the theater festival and who happens to lives right next to Papal Palais walls took us .We opted to skip the tour and climbed the step that lead up to the top and walked thru the church which was very beautiful, the gardens and over looked the views from the top looking down... More

People mingling & looking at this amazing site. You can sit in the courtyard & gaze from afar..but climbing the steps & enjoying the beauty is worth the exercise. Felt a little sorry for all the dogs that had to climb in the warm afternoon sun!

well worth the visit. amazing space. vast castle like palace lots if stairs and uneven grounds. not for the weaklings and nor really of much interest to small children
