The musee is well organized and what we learned from the excellent exhibits allowed us to appreciate our walking tour of Arles more.

The museum is outside the old town and a bit of a walk, there is a bus service as well. It is well laid out with lots of fascinating models, pottery, mosaics, statues, amphora, etc. The highlight has to be a Rhone barge that was...More

some nice mosaics, statues and sarcophogi but the roman barge is quite unique and facinating. A good film with english subtitles explains its history and how it was raised. A good insight into everyday roman life

The museum hiuses a wonderful collection of Roman artifacts from Arles. The 30m roman vessel and statue of Julius Ceasar are stunning. Although the signs are only in French, together with an audioguide you will get all the information you need. Would definitely recommend.

A little out of the centre but well worth a visit as the reclaimed Roman boat and artifacts are stunning. Be aware there is no public transport to or from this museum which is a bad mistake, and taxis were not available. The City should...More

Superb museum. Very quiet. The Roman cargo ship was amazing. And luckily the film about it was subtitled in English. Never seen such a large collection of Roman artefacts all in one place. The sarcofagi from the Alychamps were beautiful. Amazing to see Carrara marble...More

I found this museum most interesting. I especially enjoyed the video describing the restoration process for the barge boat found in the river. After so many years, it was amazing to see how well it has withstood time.

Exclusive museum. During our July visit there was a temporary treasure collection from the National Library in Paris - it was very interesting.

Nicely laid out with some interesting things to see but only some of it was in English. Included in the City Pass which is definitely worth buying.

Not at the museum, no, but the city centre isn't far away and you'll find plenty of places to eat there.
