Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sadly this botanic garden, potentially interesting as a physic garden originally attached to the medical school, has been left to ruin and is not worth the walk from the town centre. It is in a very poor condition, and is more like a small badly maintained arboretum with some of the trees being dead. All the pools but one had been drained. An effort at collecting together plants of medicinal value had been left to deteriorate into a weed-ridden mess. The alleged display of orchids (described in local tourist material) in the small greenhouse was non-existent and again all the water had been drained away, leaving plants in an untended state. Overall a very dispiriting experience and reflected badly on whoever owns the premises.

I decided to try and see as much as I possibly could during my stay in Poitiers, so I made sure I had the great little map that the tourist office supplies, as well as using Google maps on my phone. As such, one afternoon I came across this park which is quite close to the river Clain which encompasses the town, as well as the Church St.Jean de Montierneuf. I took a well-earned rest in the garden, but not before I got to marvel at the incredible collection of plants, vegetables, flowers and fruits they have growing in one cultivated area (complete with Mr. and Mrs. Scarecrows). There are winding paths, bridges and tunnels to discover, as well as a large greenhouss which houses the more tropical plants. It's really a beautiful place to sit and contemplate life after a hectic sightseeing walk through the beautiful city of Poitiers.

An amazing garden with lots of flowers and great places to hide and play. Mazes made from grasses and other plants. Water features and featured gardens for different habitats. Almost empty of people on the day we visited. Great!

This is a pretty and quiet corner of Poitiers to pass a few minutes - there's a wide variety of plants from herbs to mature trees. Mostly clearly labelled. Sadly the greenhouse was not open when we visited (although a sign indicated that it should be). Definitely worth a visit.

Cute park with a large range of plant life... but the pond was all empty! The greenhouse is worth visiting though.

Surrounded by beautiful plants, flowers and trees this is an welcomed escape from the city smog (if one really can call Poitiers a city). Take a book and lie in the grass (no dogs allowed so no fear there) or just a gentle stroll around - it's not enormous but it is pretty gorgeous.

This ornamental garden was created in 1869 and contains over 100 shrubs plants and trees. Everything is clearly labelled and the garden, set on a sloping site is enchanting as is the botanical garden and greenhouse with its stream and walkway. Colour, aroma and charm are the attributes of this wonderfully maintained garden situated about ten minutes walk from Poitiers city centre.
