Anyone visiting Cognac should take 1 - 1 1/2 hours to walk around these extensive gardens. Disigned by a French landscape architect in the "English" style they are charming. Streams, averies, ponds and fountains can be found around most corners. Smoe great ideas for arranging one's flower beds. All in all not to be missed.

The city hall is at the center of this beautifully designed and maintained public park. Little alleyways, fountains, benches .. it has it all.

The city hall looks majestic in this park. A worthwhile stroll.

What a delight to find in the centre of cognac. We have never been to cognac before so wandered around for a couple of days in the local area. This park is just stunning to walk around. There is plenty of paths to walk on and plenty of grassed area to sit as well as benches.
There are some animals that are housed in the centre with goats, peacocks and chickens. These were entertaining!
There are 2 play areas for children but also very quiet for the adults to have a quiet moment!
The location is stunning really with water running throughout
Toilet facilities were clean, although take your own toilet roll as not provided.
All round excellent place for a picnic!

In Cognac house sitting. The dog I'm watching after loves this park. He starts going crazy when we're close, so I have to take him in.
Lots of flowing water and even a small zoo with birds and bunnies :).

Lovely green space in Cognac. Lots of little streams and space to sit on the grass. Probably more going on in the summertime.

This is a wonderful little garden that has something for everyone, while in cognac we spent a lot of time here. You can walk around and see all the different plants, visit the animals and feed the ducks, sit and take in an outdoor play and even let the kids run wild on the two wonderful play parks.

England should have more of these.

The flowers are beautiful and well card for, the park is an excellent place to relax, have a picnic or just wander around. Lots of water features and water foul and an excellent children's play area.

There are restaurants just outside the park gates and there is a museum and art gallery at the entrance.

Beautifully maintained and kept public park, with historic buildings, pretty streams and gardens, the town hall...
It is not always the case in France, but everything was clean and carefully manicured.
They even have a few animals in the centre of it, for kids I guess.

Jardin Public in Cognac is a moderately sized park next to the Hotel de Ville. It is quite an ornamental style park with an intricately designed stream and a couple of monuments.

The park was created in the late 19th century and seems designed with that sensibility in mind as it is primarily a nice space to promenade around. There are various things to look at along the route but not that many benches or the like to enjoy the ambience.

The most notable feature is the Pavillion Gothique which is a small tower from 1835 set in water. It has a strange look but being unusual gives it an attractiveness. Other features are more classical such as the flower beds and statue opposite the orangerie.

The stream is nicely designed with a set of cute features and a little bridge. There are a couple of ducks on the stream.

For some reason there is a mini zoo with chickens, goats, and peacocks. It is not a petting zoo despite it having animals typical of that type.

A children's playground is a large enough space for kids to run around in.

On a fairly warm Sunday lunchtime there were not that many people in the park. Perhaps that is because other than the playground, the park seems more to be a place to pass through as it just isn't designed for relaxing in. There aren't many benches or even that many unused green spaces.

Jardin Public is a nice park but isn't really beautiful enough to succeed ornamentally. It isn't really a place to while away the time in either.
