The Cathedral is indeed a must see. The spacious interior is magnificent, beautiful side chapels and amazing light. The towers are fantastic, and like the Cathedral in my home City of Lincoln, England, are visible from miles away because of it's hilltop situation.

Not too busy in September. Beautiful light inside. If you get a chance to climb up the tower the view is fabulous right over the Loannois country to Chemin des Dames and south.

Well worth a look if you are in old town Laon I am not religious at all but the sheer scale of the building for the time it was built is amazing, it really does bake you think how they did it. The internal ceilings...More

Beautiful cathedral located in the centre of the old town, on a hill. Beautifully maintained. Not that much to do in the village itself, but the cathedral and the walls make it worth a visit if you're passing by.

Most atmospheric and a jewel at the top of the hill. the experience was rather spoilt in the surrounding roads because of dog fouling. A pity that is not dealt with.

So many times we have seen this magnificent cathedral from afar, as we have sped past Laon on the motorway. Intrigued by this ancient, fortified hilltop town, we finally made the effort to come and see it (and "effort" is a most appropriate word!). Suspecting...More

Far from the tourists habitual paths, you will discover, in a country haunted by the memories of the "great war", that 1914-1918 one, after visiting " le Chemin des Dames" or a few great cemeteries, suddenly, after the road has run through a little wood,...More

Big cathedral with lots of really pretty stained glass windows! A good place to go to escape the summer heat as well.

When in Laon we didn't go to Reims. From what I know the cathedral and the champagne cellars are the musts of the area.
