Tourisitc visits of Ackerman's cellars in Saumur and tasting. A three-part visit at the heart of troglodyte cellars : a trip throughout history, an artistic experience and a break on the Loire river... Founded in 1811, Ackerman is the leading producer of Loire Valley fine sparkling wines. Situated in Saumur, on the banks of the Thouet river, a tributary of the Loire, at once informative and entertaining, the cellars of the House of Ackerman combine charm, heritage, and prestige. The wines of Ackerman are true to type, well-balanced and elegant. Thanks to a large selection of fine sparkling wines (Cremant de Loire, Saumur Brut) and Loire Valley still wines (Saumur-Champigny, St Nicolas de Bourgueil, Chinon, Sancerre...), you will be able to appreciate the prestige of a great brand which has seduced consumers world-wide over the past two centuries. Ackerman is bubbly, luminous and enticing. The House's still, sparkling, organic and alcohol-free wines are available at its boutique all year round. Discover Ackerman's world of wines.

Ackerman is located inside of a cave and has a deep, rich history in the Loire Valley. Our group did a guided tour which included the history of the winery and of wine making. There is an excellent art installation in the caves which I don't have adequate pictures of. The wines themselves are crisp and refreshing and relatively inexpensive... More

We received a warm welcome upon our arrival and were told about how the self guided tour worked. We were giving an iPad and sent on our way through the caves. The iPad uses beacons as you make your way around so every time you reach a beacon, information pops up on the iPad which included photos, videos and games... More

This is a must to see for all wine lovers. It is a self tour guide where you have an Ipad that tells the story of how Ackerman's began. The artist section is a must to see too from scuptures to the pictures done with 1000's of lights & what seems miles of string. The wine tasting at the end... More

Nice self guided tour with an audio guide. Great tasting afterwards. Got the fee for the tour refunded after some purchases in the boutique. Need to focus more on the Loire bubbles. Their good stuff is about 70 % cheaper than the Champagne brands and there isn't that much difference in quality. A decent sweet wine too, again for an... More

A very interesting couple of hours to escape the heat - the wines caves are a constant 13 degrees! This is a self guided tour with an interactive tablet in English, which gives an informative history of the establishment and winemaking. In addition there are art displays in the caves and traditional French games at the end . The tour... More

We decided to come here after a friend had their sparkling wine instead of champagne at their wedding. And it was definitely worth it! It is a little far out of the city of Saumur, but a lovely walk past the military base. We arrived just before closing, but could still have a wine tasting from their interactive tasting machine... I returned with some friends and I continue to be impressed by Ackerman caves. I recall one was able to visit for free if you found a voucher in the town but now it seems it is only a 5 euro entry, which is fine. If you spend 40 euros, which you can do if you buy 4 or more... More

We only had time to visit one winery, and Ackerman is well located if you are going to see the Cadre Noir; it's also easy to get to from Saumur. The tour is 5 euros which includes an the use of an iPad with English commentary, however we found it hard to make it sync with the exhibits as it... More

Hello, A warm thank you for your comment that describes so well our tour. We are delighted to know that you had a good time in our caves. Indeed, the iPad is a new feature from this year and your comment will help us to improve this service. The advantage of welcoming art exhibitions is that the tour evolves throughout... More
