good on foot, great on the guided train

This is a real gem of a place to walk around and soak up the atmosphere and history. It's excellent during the illuminations nights during August / high season.

Pretty French town visited in a sunny summer day.Very enjoyable, selection of places to eat, museums to visit. Particularly nice the old part of the town. Parking was difficult.

What a terrific old town Le Mans has. Easy to navigate, full of charm, medieval buildings, beautifully preserved and restored. We did not expect this at all. It has plenty of nice restaurants and quirky shops, too. Do not miss it.

Beautiful medieval + town. Fantastic buildings and 'walkable' streets. Numerous and a great variety of eateries. Sadly many of the interesting independent shops were closed (we stayed on a Sunday), which was a real shame as we wanted to do some spending! The town had a very romantic feel and the light show across the town was splendid.

Only found out about this place because of trip advisor. It was lovely with a mixture of old buildings and cafes. Stunning cathedral, would like to go back at night as this would all be lit up.

We stopped in Le Mans for convenience really as we drove back to the UK from southern Spain - the only thing I knew about Le Mans previously was the racing - didn't know it was so quaint and charming . We had a little walk round mid afternoon - but there wasn't a lot open or much happening but... More

Stunning old town, lovely cafes and craft shops, great way to spend a few hours in Le Mans. The cathedral also looks stunning, but didn't go in.

Spent a very pleasant few hours wandering round the Old Town, on Sunday 10th July 2016, which was a very warm day, 28 degrees ish. Plenty of shade in the old town and ideal place to shelter from the sun on a bright sunny day. The old buildings are fascinating and provide countless photographic opportunities. The are plenty of small... More
