As we were walking around Caen we came across this peaceful retreat. We sat and relaxed and enjoyed the gardens for 40 minutes or so as a quiet break from sight seeing

This beautiful set of gardens is a little out of the way up on the hill and is just a quiet, magical little refuge from the city bustle. Well worth the walk.

Very beautiful and peaceful. We loved the huge old trees, some were super tall and one spread out so much, that it was supported by overhead cables.

The garden is well-maintained. There are benches on which one can rest. The flowers were not in full bloom when we visited.

My poor husband usually has to suffer at least one garden visit when we are away but this time he was fascinated! The garden is a mixture of the usual shows of plants and a scientific research facility. Very good explanations including lists of the...More

I had not expected that many plants to be packed into a garden which is by no means huge. Everything is very well done and I loved the slightly neglected corners. I could not get into the tropical plants house but, again, that looked packed...More

Quite a long walk from the city centre, but worth it. Free entry. A must for gardeners. Very hot tropical greenhouse with both wet and dry areas. Very peaceful.

I came across this place once quite by chance while riding my bike and it was like stumbling into some hidden valley. Really cool and amazing. Would be great for kids. Great for dates. Great for everything. Weird and special place.

It's open at weekends. Don't remember a cafe, but it's not far into town.

Yes, it's open from 10 o'clock at weekends but the tropical greenhouse doesn't open until 1 o'clock. There is no café but there are toilets.
