The reporters memorial in Bayeux is unlike all of the other war memorials in the area as it specifically commemorates war correspondents of all nationalities who have lost their lives in conflict since 1944. The tablets with vast numbers of names of allude to the...More

This memorial consists of a shaded walk between standing stones commemorating all the reporter lost in areas of conflict. Quite amazing how many names there are.

We accidentally found this and as it covers from 1950`s to present day it was very interesting. My daughter even found the Paris journalists from me suis Charlie . Beautifully maintained.

As a journalist by training, I found this memorial very moving and peaceful. It was made even more poignant when I came across the name of a journalist I had met early in my career. It is well worth a visit as it sits between...More

We walked here from the centre of town. It took about 15 mins at a leisurely place. Amazing to see the number of journalists who have died over so many years. We didn't find it that easily and seemed to enter from the back. Well...More

An easy walk from the middle of town, this tribute is moving and eye opening. Spending time in the war museum, cemetery and the memorial was a perfect way to spend a pretty fall afternoon.

Beautiful, emotional, quite unique and lovingly maintained. The columns with named of war zone journalists killed while covering battles is chronological. Sad that almost every year has some names. Enlightening to see how the hot spots shift geographically, but produce equally tragic results.

Journalists are often the overlooked casualties of war but this memorial is a stark reminder of their sacrifices - in every year since 1945. Its easy to miss but the memorials are in a peaceful wooded glade across the road from the British War cemetery.
