We spent 3 days touring Normandy area. Some logistics I wish I knew first time around. WHERE TO STAY I would say stay in Bayeux if you are planning on staying in the area. Or do a day trip from Paris (you can catch train...More

Even though I'm retired USAF, military history isn't special to me, but visiting these beaches with my French birn father definitely was an experience. The valor and bravery of those who stormed these beaches on D-Day was special.

The magnitude of what happened here, and at such a cost, truly gives one the feeling of being on hallowed ground.

Can be very emotional day as people remember war stories. In the bus taking us there people started talking about family members who were involved. Thanks to all of the Veterans!

We scheduled a tour from Paris and while the tour company isn't significant, it was worth the time (6am-7pm) to do this. It was probably one of the most humbling and moving experiences we have ever had. To stand on those beaches where our young...More

Whether you're passing through, making this place a stopover or even your destination there are plenty of things to see and do. For obvious reasons it's a busy place with many D-Day tourists making up the bulk of the visitors. There are plenty of bars...More

The beaches seem to go on forever. Hard to imagine the horror that they once all witnessed - they seem so beautiful and peaceful now (at least in the fall). Really liked the sculpture on Omaha Beach.

I used Paris city vision. Long day (6 am to 9 pm), but I could sleep during the 6 hour of drive time (like nearly everyone else).
