A reasonably interesting market inside but, horrifically seedy outside, a lot of second hand rubbish and a lot of people asking you for money) - not worth the walk from the old town, where there are plenty of other more interesting things to see.

Wazemmes market is fun. Good for food (meat - lots of chicken being roasted around the edge of the market, cheese, seafood and fresh fruit and vegetables etc.), cheap essentials and clothing. Lots of repetitive stalls selling exactly the same things, but this is normal....More

I visited the market on Saturday so there was no outdoor market, only indoor. This is a small but very nice market to get local food product.

The Marche de Wazemmes is a log of fun - people shopping for new second-hand goods or clothes, bric a brac, having coffee or a beer with friends, buying bunches of fresh flowers, or fresh meats and cheese in the covered market.

A local took us here on a Sunday morning to experience the atmosphere and choice on offer. A huge range of products on offer - fresh and street market food, clothes, fabrics, household linens, antiques, toys etc etc - and much with an Arabic/north African...More

A word or two in reply to the reviewers who felt unsafe or rated this market as tatty or sub par. Okay it doesn't have the ambiance of Nice's Marché aux Fleurs nor the immense selection of the Marché aux Puces in Paris. But I...More
