I loved the architecture especially the arched colonnades with their little shops, bars, cafes and restaurants within. The cobbled trapezoid 'square' evocative of the middle ages and surely witness to many a market, fayre or perhaps historic civil uprising, but currently focused on an antique Merry-go-round festively illuminated. The several bars here serve a huge array of potent Belgian beers... More

Gorgeous Italianate plaza on the eastern side of the old city. Cool eateries and wine spots that are frequented by locals.

Place Saint-Louis is always buzzing. The arcades are reminiscent of the squares and public monuments of the Italy. It is filled with places to wine and dine or simply a cup of coffee.

We love coming to Metz and walking in its old streets. It has an authentic feeing, mainly French with a touch of German heritage. The locals are very friendly and hospitable. The food is outstanding. We love coming here just before Christmas and it has a special feeing especially with kids. We have been coming here for the last four... More

Visited whilst touring the christmas markets in Metz. As it was early in the morning it was not too busy and you could walk around very easily. Lots of stall selling tradition gifts an chocolates. Plenty of places to eat though we had been to the cafe Le Rubis in the square which is excellent. There Is a great christmas... More

This place is in the historic heart of Metz, on this square is a nice park; Metz has a flair of smal Paris, there are nice terraces and cafés; in front you find une Galerie Lafayette.

La Place St Louis is a typical urban square about two block from the Metz cathedral. With a good number of bars, cafes, restaurants and a handful of shopping establishments, it is a good place to grab a bite and a drink after a solemn visit to the cathedral of Metz. Not quite a tourist trap but as close to... More

This is a beautiful square, which gives a good impression of the historic heart of Metz. Its facades and square make it a special ensembe, which makes it a pleasant place for a walk.

Have to agree that the surrounding architecture is quite interesting but on a recent Monday early afternoon the place was practically empty. Not sure what the deal was but did not seem like the lively square others here described.

Interesting open place with ancient buildings. Quaint facades with different shops, cafes and restaurants. Would be a great stop in the spring to enjoy the surroundings.
