    Amazing Gothic architecture
Metz Cathedral, located in Metz which is between Paris and Strasbourg, is an extraordinary example of Gothic architecture. Its towering spires and intricate stained glass windows are truly impressive. Inside, the Rose Window is a highlight. This cathedral's historical and architectural significance makes it a captivating destination, offering a glimpse into the past. It's free to enter and you can buy and light candles inside. Highly recommended!

    Majestic
Stooped in history, this is one of the best cathedrals to see in France. By scale it's one of the largest, and the history (e.g. two churchs were combined inside the structure) is fascinating. It appeared tours were available at certain times, concerts also take place here at prescheduled times. The interior and exterior are both impressive sights. Entry is free, so come during non-service times and enjoy the views with respect.

A combination of active religious center and a priceless historical monument
The atmosphere. The sense of reverence for the work of the past generations. The awe it must have inspired in the local population in the centuries past. Walk around the exterior and observe the structure from several blocks away on each side to realize the full scale and impact.

An exceptional, largely Gothic, cathedral most notable for the height of it's nave and its windows. It is claimed to have the largest area of stained glass in any church in the world and there was certainly lots of it including some modern examples. We were able to find some designed by Marc Chagall one of our favourite artists. The cathedral is very well set of in a large open square. Very definitely worth a visit if you're in the lovely town of Metz.

I am so glad that I read something online about Metz and this cathedral. It is amazing. It has the third tallest nave in France, so when you enter the doors, it actually takes your breath away. It also had the largest collection of stained glass in a church, in the entire world. I particularly loved the Marc Chagall windows. We stopped here on our drive from Luxembourg to Colmar. If you are driving in that area, this is an absolute must see.

I visited the cathedral in December and there were some lovely Christmas markets close by. The cathedral has the most stained glass of any cathedral in the world over 69,000 square feet. There are a number of artists that designed the glass including Marc Chagall. Although it wasn’t sunny the cathedral was still stunning.

The cathedral of Metz is not just a dignified old church.

It’s also an opportunity to see masterpieces of distinguished artist Marc Chagall who designed some of the stained glass in 1958 and a couple of years after.

Entrance is free!

This is a very impressive cathedral. I would say it rivals many more famous ones, in terms of details. This is one of the few cathedrals where I have considered taking a guided tour. There's a few secrets to discover. The artwork and masonry is breathtaking. If you, like us, enjoy gargoyle hunting, and a bit more obscure things than the regular statues you see in many places of worship. This is the place!

The cathedral will amaze and an amazing example of how amazing the ancient architecture is! It's a real beauty of architecture! 😍 The bible stories are designed in the glasses and there were some arts show cased inside the Cathedral! The place was very quiet and calm !

The building itself is maybe not so impressive as in Reims, but it's stained-glass windows are really impressive. Besides the Roman bath museum, the best attraction. It is a bit labyrinth type of museum, but it has great chronological order plus nice Roma time exhibition. Also the painting section is very good (at least for a small city).

We visited this cathedral in the early evening. There was a lovely atmosphere inside. It is huge and really impressive and well worth visiting. We spent nearly an hour inside. There are also some really nice bars and restaurants nearby which make it a really nice central location to visit Metz.
