The Tour Magne, i.e. the Great Tower, is the only tower left standing from the Roman city walls. The top of the tower of 140 steps provides a striking panoramic view of Nimes.

This was part of a combination ticket we bought at the Tourist Office the day we arrived. The gardens leading up to the Tour Magne are really beautiful - and would be a great spot to picnic or read a book. After the climb to...More

This ancient ruin has a wonderful view of the city and a long spiral staircase which people climb up and down. Often you have to wait a little bit to make your way up for others to come down but it's worth the wait.

Many steep steps up, and narrow in places, but a good view of the town at the top. Beware the sticky handrails.

Enjoyed the view from above though a magnifying glass would have come in handy. Also, it dad that I didn't get to see the via dominitia from the top.

This is a long hike (uphill) from the main tourist area of Nimes. As such, it is less crowded than a lot of the other attractions in town. We visited because we bought a three attraction pass when we were at the Arena, and we...More

We got the 3 site ticket at the coliseum arena site so went here because of that. I'm glad we made the effort to climb up the tower though. The views at the top were worth the climb up the stairs. A lovely walk to...More
