Rather small and expensive (9€ for an adult in 2017). We stayed there around 1 hour. It's interesting because non conventional and the topic is atypic. You can learn about the Cathar's persecution and see a lot of objects of torture. Soundtrack's music is played...More

This is a fascinating and, somewhat reluctantly, must-see museum. The juxtaposition between the frankly laughable mannequin fancy dress and the actual horrific torture devices that were used on real people gives a strange mix of feelings. The first section is fairly interesting and leaves you...More

The Museum consists of 2 parts - the main floor and other location which more looks like Wax Museum (one ticket covers both). My first thought was about this museum - don't take a children with you at least under 13 (for them is another...More

Amateurish dated small museum. . 1970s mannequins dressed in homemade period costumes. Minimal explanations of any depth. Some instruments of the inquisition but no real context. reasonable video but otherwise a wasted opportunity to inform and not particularly entertaining. Split on 2 sites can't even...More

One of the first Inquisition's took place in and around Carcassonne when the Cathurs were persecuted and destroyed. This museum makes a pretty good attempt at telling the story however it essential that you go and read the information rather than expect to be thrilled...More

Although the things on display have a sinister and a dreadful purpose . To the curious of mind it is a one time visit. Grand kids loved it with lots of squeaks. An Giggles. I think a bit pricey for larger family's.

Should have been interesting, in an admittedly macabre way, and informative and thought-provoking. Instead we were left feeling duped and €36 down. Cheap and tacky. The prison "musee" in particular is shockingly bad - we shuffled through some sad largely empty rooms accompanied by a...More

This museum is worth a visit. The attendant (a middle aged lady) was very pleasant. This is a very frightening museum of all the atrocities people can do on the name of religion. It was more informative than the museum of the Chateau and the...More

Sure you got to see life size replicas of instruments of torture, but the entire museum was so poorly put together it felt like a scam to be charged €9.50 (more than visiting the inner castle and ramparts). You're not allowed to take pictures and...More

This was interesting in a historical sense if somewhat gruesome. Not done in a particularly high tech or professional way.
