Carcassonne is small, and after the castle walls then the basilica must be the next major attraction. Some nice stained glass. An interesting church and worthy of some time and a few photos.

Lovely old church . Very quiet considering the crowds of people outside. Many tourists but all showing respect. This is still a religious place where you can have a prayer, light a candle if you wish.

Now, I must say this at the outset: I am not a particularly religious person, especially when it comes to Catholicism and pageantry, but this place had a special resonance. It was so, so peaceful, in spite of the dozens of clicking cameras. Perhaps it...More

This building is currently undergoing renovations and is in the main not accessible. Although you can enter a small portion of the church, the rest is screened by polythene.

Undergoing major works but still able to get limited access. Stain glass windows are beautiful. Was able to watch some of the craftsmen undertaking some of the work. This is a must visit location

I visited to see the glass. Unfortunately I was unable to see it properly as the choir area is undergoing extensive repairs and is sheeted off from the public. The rest of the church is rather dark and unremarkable but the glass is a must see!.

Due to major restoration work we did not get to appreciate the full splendour of this magnificent Basilica. However there was still so much to appreciate and the highlight was the Stained Glass Windows.

Beautiful windows here but at the moment hard to see as there is a lot of repair work going on inside.

It is a hot tour place but very quiet inside. The glass windows are beautiful. It is historic and story place.

The church is under wraps mostly at the moment, but it is clearly a stunning church. The stained glass, some of which you can still see, is amazing. I hope they do it justice in restoring. Oh, and the gargoyles on the exterior are priceless.
