Putting on exceptional concerts is only one aspect of the Philharmonie de Paris. With its rehearsal rooms, educational centre, exhibition space, restaurants and convivial setting within the Parc de la Villette, it has been designed as a true 'living...more

This is almost like symphony in the round. The orchestra is set in from the rear of the auditorium. We sat overlooking the orchestra; the sound was terrific, perfect acoustics which is remarkable given how unusual the space was, and could see the musicians going...More

New modern philharmonic hall located near the Port de Vilette. Worth a visit but be aware that it is a LONG way from the center of Paris. They offer free bus service after evening concerts. Definitely sign up for that

The controversial building is worth seeing with the tiles in the form of birds over the front facade reaching up to the sky. Disappointed that it was closed inside. However, we decided to go to the museum. What a great decision that was. Musical instruments...More

We went to this seaon's opening concert last night; Yo-Yo-Ma and the Boston Philharmonics did not disappoint, but the building did. The new philharmonic hall is a huge pile of a building suggesting some kind of landscape that is part of the Parc de la...More

As a professional photographer with decades of worldwide experience in concert halls, I can say that this is THE worst hall I've ever been in. It's simply unfathomable how such a dreadful venue could have been built. Although willing to look past its inconvenient location,...More

Impressive modern architecture, both Philarmonies 1 & 2 in the Park de la Villette, Paris. The new hall Philharmonie 1, 2015 more than 200 k sf. has the best acoustics ever in a symphonic hall and the orchestra can move through the floor to adapt...More

To my eye, the building is ugly, inside and out, but the acoustics are exquisite. I have sat in various locations in the main seating area in front of the stage, and in all cases experienced a combination of warm rich sound and perfect clarity....More

Jean Nouvel did it again, and Paris has its newest landmark building. A vast auditorium for classic music, hopefully with great acoustics, a museum of music, and the adjacent Cite de la Musique for popular concerts make a good combination.

Loved the building, it will be finished soon! Not sure if everybody can see the stage from the seats mid-way up the sides. The orchestra was in the middle and I couldn't see the back row because of the angle of the seats. However as...More

It takes a long time to get to the Philharmonie from most places in Paris, and regrettably the metro/RER connections aren't among the best that Paris has to offer. I had to change at Gare du Nord, which is chaotic and iffy at the best...More

This futuristic landscape has come to define the
northeast of Paris. The Saint-Denis canal is framed
with luscious lawns and metallic buildings over a
wide-open space. Home to Europe's largest science
museum, this area rewards daytime and nighttime
explorations; there are three concert spaces, plus
cinemas and bars, and even open-air cinema in the
summer. The surrounding homes are a sharp contrast to
