The 20th arrondissement is known for the Père Lachaise Cemetery where one can find the tombs of many famous composers (such as Frédéric Chopin and Gioacchino Rossini), writers (including Oscar Wilde and Marcel Proust), painters (Camille Pissarro, Jacques-Louis David, and others), and the rock singer Jim Morrison of The Doors.

We once rented an apartment in this area and were quite happy here. The area around Place Gambetta is especially pretty and lively and quite close-in via Metro. Lots of leafy pretty residential neighborhoods to explore, a collection of little urban villages.

Cool area, although it's not that touristic. It's more of a cultural place, besides being a place for locals. For people who appreciate the "local" style of traveling, by staying at AirBnb and learning how inhabitants live, this may be a good option.

Not very touristy. Filled with Parisiens doing their thing. Lots of students. Tons of cafés. Cultural attractions like the parks and Père la Chaise round it out nicely. It's our favorite arrondissement to stay in Paris.

My hotel was in the 11th arrondissement, near Place Léon Blum, so it was a short stroll to Père Lachaise cemetary in the 20th. I like these areas, they are a chance to see how normal Parisians live.

What most travellers to Paris miss is getting about the outer arrondissements and the Tramways are a wonderful way to see, with your travel pass/Navigo Pass, the rest of Paris. The journey from Ligne 3, on the Metro, takes you to Gambetta, go on to...More

Located in the north of Paris, known to locals as arrondissement de Ménilmontant. Easy to get to and from by metro. Very cosmopolitan and inexpensive for eats - no more than €12 per sitting for us both. Also the home of Père Lachaise Cemetery, which...More

This amazing more-and-more-fancy becoming neighborhood amazed me with its incredible atmosphere. Many bars and great places to go as for example the "mama shelter" hotel restaurant

The main reason for walking through this area of Paris is to come to the Pere Lachaise cemetery, a 200+ year old attraction worth visiting. The famous and not so famous, from Rossini in the 1800's to Edith Piaff in the mid 1960's have found...More

The cemetery is interesting to visit. Apart from that, there is nothing really interesting in that arrondissement that is quite far away from the center of Paris.

The 20th is the easternmost of the 14 arrondissements on the Right Bank of the Seine. Mostly working-class, the district holds a variety of immigrant groups, including Black Africans, Chinese and Thai. Its main -- and some would say its only -- tourist attraction is...More
