Situated on the Rive Gauche (left bank) of the River Seine and sharing the Montparnasse district with the 6th and 14th arrondissements, it is the city's most populous arrondissement. The Tour Montparnasse – the tallest skyscraper in Paris – and the neighbouring Gare Montparnasse are both located in the 15th arrondissement, at its border with the 14th. If you are staying in Paris for longer than a few days and would like to keep it within budget, then you won't be disappointed by choosing a hotel somewhere in the 15th arr. We stayed at the Best Western Tour Eiffel Cambronne along Rue de la Croix Nivert and let me tell you, our experiences of exploring, shopping, and dining within this district did not feel like we were tourists.
The area is only a 10-min walk to the Champ de Mars park that stretches all the way to the Eiffel Tower. So after having dinner among the many restaurants in the area, walk to the park and see the tower lit at night and for every hour at the top of the hour, the tower sparkles. It's a sight to behold!
There are many shops and boutiques along Rue de Commerce such as H&M, Zara, Calzedonia, Sephora, Rudy's, and so many more mixed with your boulangeries and patisseries. You can do most of your shopping along this road without bothering to go to the touristy and sometimes crowded Champs-Elysees.
Getting around the city is not a problem if you choose to take the Metro. First, the Paris Metro app is a must as a companion to help you navigate your way getting from point A to B and in between. If you are staying for more than 5 days and would like to take advantage of the metro to take you to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Palais de Versailles, Grand and Petite Palais, and many other attractions, get the "carnet" - a pack of 10 metro tickets for a reduced price. You can get them at the kiosks at most metro stations. Important tip: There is a separate RER C train that takes you all the way to the Chateau de Versailles Rive Gauche station which is the last station on this line if you want to visit the Palais. Just ask the station attendants and watch the status board for up-to-the-minute arrival times. I say this because there are other trains that share the same line but veer off to other destinations. There are 3 metro stations we used: Avenue Emile Zola, Commerce and La Motte-Piquet-Grenelle - all within a short walking distance. Most places you'd like to go will consist of 1 transfer (mostly at the Concorde station if you're on line 8 to get to line 1). Tip: you won't need to rescan your ticket for transfers but always be prepared to show it especially when they do spotchecks which in our case did happen when we got off at the Ave Emile Zola station.
It helps to show that you are making an effort to learn the language. I know most basic words and phrases enough to get what you want and pay for it, and to exchange a few pleasantries. This is where the Google Translate app and other free learn how to speak French apps come in to play. Use them; it goes a long way.
Insider tip: if you like a quiet evening by the bar, there is great place we found at the corner of Rue de la Croix Nivert and Rue des Entrepreneurs called Chez Papa. My wife swears they have the best mojito! The manager of this place rarely smiles but works diligently to serve customers and to keep things moving. I suggest you stop by and give this place a try if you are staying in the area.
We love staying in this quaint area away from the busy tourist spots and now we know where to stay the next time we visit Paris. I hope you learned a thing or two from this review. Bon voyage!

I have been to Paris 25 times and am very familiar with many different Arrondissments, but the 15th is my new favorite!
We had two weeks staying on rue de Javel and were taken by the area right away. The best parts of Paris without the crowds, tourists and selfie sticks. Great, friendly, affordable restaurants, traditional cafes, boulangerie's on every corner, hidden tucked away green spaces, beautiful neighborhood churches and a real feel of being in the middle of the Parisian culture and life that I love!
My teenagers walked to Casa Flora on rue Saint Charles by themselves at 10 at night many times to share their Speck Pizza (12E) or to Amorino on rue du commerce for their gelato fix. Comfort and ease and safeness in this true neighborhood location.
Must go see Square Saint Lambert- fell upon it the last night and it sealed the deal of making the 15th my new favorite!

This area is close to Eiffel Tower ... Close to everything you can possibly need as far as restaurants, shops, markets bistros etc. Would definitely stay here if travelling to Paris... Away from the touristy area but just 10 min walk away... Wonderfully located.. A lot of smaller hotels and quaint restaurants

This is where the people live, the most populous section of the city. So you will find mostly apartments here, some areas of small houses. Not a lot of history (some) or monuments. A couple of big modern parks. A neighborhood of sky scrapers along the Seine.

This is a quiet residential area of Paris. I stayed at an Airbnb here. There were 3 metro stations within walking distance, and the area also has delightful bakeries, cafes and restaurants. If you want to live like a local in Paris, then come stay here in the 15th.

Paris has twenty arrondissements (administrative boroughs) which are known by their numbers and start with the 1st Arrondissement, at the centre of the city.
In August 2014 I stayed in the 15th arrondissement with my partner and our Australian visitor. This was a great location for our stay, we had a view of the Tour Eiffel from our apartment and whilst I can't guarantee other tourists will be so fortunate; I can assure you of the advantage of local cafés and shops. Not only were the local establishments priced as reasonably as you will find in Paris, but it is a wonderful experience shopping and dining amongst the locals, all the time you are just a few streets away from the more central tourist attractions.
The area is well served by the Métro and I had chosen an apartment with a station directly outside our door. Sadly it turned out that Bir Hakeim station was closed for refurbishment, when we arrived! There was a bus shuttle service available, which would have been fine for anyone else, but for us, with a person who had mobility problems amongst our party, it was a little irritating. This hic-cup aside, the service is excellent and enables tourists to access any part of Paris easily.
I highly recommend this area as a good base for your stay, it is cheaper than the more central locations and adds a new dimension to your stay. It is only minutes away on the Métro from the main tourist sites too.

Not that many obvious tourist sites but this is where many of the people working in the restaurants and shops in the tourist parts of the city actually live. Lots of very good and rather inexpensive, at least by Paris standards, restaurants, nice parks, good street markets and real middle class neighbors. Excellent metro access to the tourist areas. If I were visiting Paris for a week j don't know that I would spend any time in the 15th but if I were staying a month or more this is where I would, and do, elect to stay. If your in the area around the townhall on a Saturday watch those just married celebrating and listen to the live music and cheering from friends, you can have a coffee at one of the cafes while doing so.

This is a great location to stay in when visiting Paris. It is non-touristy, but has everything you will need. There are many restaurants, cafes, supermarkets (Carrefour, Monoprix), etc. This neighbourhood also has 2-3 metro stations. I stayed right next to the Cambronne station. The Eiffel Tower was just a short ride away.
15th Arrondissement is basically a residential neighbourhood. So it's the perfect place to live like a Parisian. You can stay away from the crowds, but easily take the metro to visit the touristy sites. I would love to stay here again!

I have collectively stayed in this district for about 5 months over the last 5 years. I really like this area, less touristy and just as fun as the other busy districts. There are some great restaurants in the area (e.g. La Veraison,Chez Cezigue ), and food stores (gourmet cheeses, MOF bakery, MOF butcher, etc). On Rue de Convention, (@ Vargirard) they have an open air market every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. On Sundays, it's the biggest, with many food vendors as well as vendors for other things like jewllries, home stuff, clothing, etc. Tuesdays and thursdays have less food stalls. You can find some really good deals there (like 5 Euros for 2 rings, 5 Euros for a scarf, 12 Euros for kids shoes that would have been around 30 Euros at the store) If you enjoy more of the local side of paris, do visit the 15th district.

This is the most populous Arrondissement in Paris, mostly middle class. Full of apartments and the services that real people need. So some good restaurants. Also some nice parks and some historic spots, Hidden treasures.

Hello, I am staying in 15th Arr soon. I would like to know if it's worth it or if me and my girlfriend may find it a bit boring? We had hoped to have at least one night seeing some Cabaret but it seems a lot of things (Apart from the Eiffel) are out of the way.
