This gem is located at the center of the Marais in the 4th, near the Pompidou. It dates back from the 9th century, with the current Gothic building dating back from the 16th. Its organ is said to have been played by Camille Saint-Saens. The...More

We were on our way to Le Centre Pompidou, when I looked at my map and said we have to go right as soon as we can. The next turn would have been a longer walk away when I saw a small tunnel and at...More

We found this nice church by coincidence. Because it was raining we looked for some place to stand under and attracted by the artwork we entered the building. We were quite impressed how beautiful this church is inside. On the right-hand side is a nice...More

Quiet and peaceful, the church is beautiful and undergoing some renovations. If you're in the area, worth a stop for the art and architecture.

We found this church literally across the plaza from the Pompideau Center Inside it was not crowded. It is an active church so you do need to be mindful that there are services that go on. Smaller than the cavernous Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur,...More

I stumbled upon this church as it is in a side street very near the Pompidou Centre. OK, it is secondary attraction in Paris, but well worth a visit if you're passing. This summer (2016) is doing free classical music concerts on certain evenings.

This beautiful church has a dusty and forgotten air, and certainly lacks the money that keeps its near neighbour Notre Dame going, but it is obviously well used and well-loved by its own community. Right by the Pompidou Centre and the local shops, with beggars...More

I had read about the historic Eglise St. Merri, of Gothic architecture and with one of the oldest church bells in Paris (1331). Built in 1520 - 1612 with wonderful church acoustics, St.-Merri possesses a beautifully sounding organ that had been rebuilt by noted Francois...More
