Just south of the Luxembourg Gardens is this smaller garden called the Garden of the Big-Explorers Marco Polo and Cavelier-de-la-Salle. You will certainly admire the Fountain of the Four Parts of the World (four figures carrying the globe).

We walked through this garden full of students from nearby colleges an universities- still not crowded. Tree lined grassy area with ponds and statues of explorers. Very pleasant and welcome open park like space which combines well with the more diverse and opulent Luxembourg Gardens

We enjoyed our time walking thru here and seeing the fountain and all the green area. Tree lined walking areas, lots of seating, and an abundance os sunshine while we were there. This is a great place for a respite.

We visited the Jardin des Grands Explorateurs in August when the weather was wonderful. We walked through the beautiful park to the Luxembourg Gardens. Worth a visit away from the traffic.

If you're a fan of gorgeous public fountains, don't miss this one. It's a great place for a casual picnic or chat, and close to the Jardins du Luxembourg. Also has ping pong tables.
