Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spotted this medieval building on our walk from Ile St. Louis to the middle of the Marais. It has a lovely garden next to it where people sit on sunny days. Good place to take a picnic lunch. This was an official residence centuries ago. Nicely preserved.

A church palace built during the Renaissance, it has never looked better. It has ben cleaned up and the garden outside is close to perfect. A little oasis in the middle of the very old Marais.

One of the oldest buildings in Paris is right out in the open for you to see with the garden in front. It has been beautifully restored.

This space is a library but it is a mansion in the Marais district and I recommend you read up on the history. Before you enter be sure to look for the cannonball lodged in the exterior wall and labeled from the one of the French revolutions.

A serendipitous find such as discoveries tend to be in the Marais. I didn't realise I could go into the fairytale gorgeous turreted building til just now when I was looking at the other reviews. Pity. But I did find the beautifully maintained parterre garden. It's fully visible from the street but I went down inside the railings and sat down - not for long - it was cold and raining. It's beautifully planted and must be gorgeous now after all that rain and 5 weeks on. It would be such a lovely place to take a little picnic lunch before continuing your Marais exploring.

This building is a surviving example of Middle Ages architecture. It sustained an attack during a revolution in 1830 and has a cannonball embedded into the eastern wall. One of Paris's quirky oddities and worth a look if you're passing through.

I just walked around the corner and discovered the Biblioteque Fornay in the Hotel de Sens. The exhibit was of a French Artist/Illustrator, Jacqueline Deheme.

Fifteenth Century mansion set next to a beautiful groomed park where you can sit and eat a lunch. This is a picturesque historic building that has been lovingly restored.

Apparently, the Hotel de Sens was under refurbishment for many years. It is now open and definitely worth the trip. They have an exhibition going on through the summer about fashion and women 1914 to 1918. It is in English and French and free admittance. The show explains so much of the cultural shift that happened during the war. I loved the postcards in the exhibit showing how men and women communicated and keeping the old traditions during the war.

There's a silent film that is very definitely watch worth watching to get a sense of how The women in the city and countryside supplied much of the needed work while the men fought on the front. Interestingly, 8 million women worked before the war as well as during the war, but the shift to what kind of work they did was remarkable. The uniforms and dresses on display are awesome and quite revealing.
