My daughter and I read the wonderful reviews and decided to make this evening our special night out. While we both enjoy wine, neither of us is an expert by any means and we saw this as an opportunity to taste some great wines and learn about French wines. While I read that Alexis gets great reviews, we were fortunate to spend the evening with Maria as our sommelier and were so impressed! She is so knowledgeable and delightful; we ended up being the only two at the tasting and had a private experience. The wines are fantastic and the pours are VERY generous. We had plenty to eat with the ham/cheese platter that was provided. I'm glad I didn't book the 4-course Normandy dinner. It would have been too much.
The evening begins in the old cellar two floors below the restaurant. Don't wear the high heels to get down there - it's a bit tricky. After sampling the champagne downstairs, you then move up a few floors to a private dining room. This has been the highlight of our trip and we can't thank Maria enough. So if Alexis is booked or needs a night off, you will have an equally memorable evening with Maria. Gracias Maria!

I decided to surprise my wife with a dinner and wine tasting experience while we were visiting Paris for the weekend. I looked at the reviews on TripAdvisor and they all sounded fantastic! After contacting Alexis directly with a few questions (which he responded to and answered very quickly) I decided to go ahead and try it. What a GREAT DECISION THAT WAS!!
I don't want to give any surprises away but this was truly an incredible experience. My wife and I arrived at the restaurant and were immediately taken care of by Alexis who took us on a journey of French wines and French cuisine. Alexis was a fantastic host and was incredibly knowledgable about the various wines and champagnes on offer for the night. The food was delicious and the wines complemented them wonderfully.
We cannot recommend this experience highly enough. If you like wine, good food and are looking for a fun informative evening then this is your best option!
Thank you Alexis for such a great evening!

I can't even begin to describe how amazing this experience was.
I'm a beer person. Up to this point in my life, I never really had wine before; didn't really like it. But my girlfriend found Alexis and Millesiwine online and we reserved it to really do something different and tied to the roots of Paris. I had my doubts, but I'm always down for something new so we booked it.
It was the best decision we made for our trip. When we arrived, Alexis met us at the door and I already felt that we have been friends for years. We sat down at a table outside and he began to speak about France, his life, and all of his amazing experience and knowledge about wine. We then sat down for dinner in a private space on the 3rd floor, and he took us on another journey all throughout France while we shared, smelled, and ate our dinner and the amazing wines that accompanied each dish. Each wine had a story and each was selected for a specific and intentional reason.
Alexis -- you made our trip and we thank you for all of the incredible love, work, and care that you put into the experience.
Like I said, if you do one thing in Paris, let this be it.

Alexis Caraux really has put together something special. As our host and sommelier, he took us on a journey into wines of France, how they are made, where they are made, what to look for on the label and how to tune our senses to fully enjoy them. He knows well what he is speaking about and his English was perfect. He speaks French and perhaps other languages too, but our tour was in English.
All of this began in the wine cellar of most charming of restaurants, Le Pharamond. Watch your head as you duck to get into this hidden location beneath a restaurant oozing with charm. The cellar is mildly chilly, cramped and full of delicious French wine. A large table is placed inside and must have been built in the cellar because getting it through the narrow opening / crawl space would have been impossible. The restaurant is centrally located in the heart of Paris and was easy to find. It is a close walk from the Louvre.
Alexis started us off with a Henri Giraud Champagne and a little background on the champagne and the building in which we were enjoying it. The cellar was used to shelter people during the underground movement of the Second World War. After the tasting by and introductions we moved to a private room upstairs. The detail on the wood spiral staircase and surroundings was beautiful and the building is on a national registry of preserved landmarks.
The upstairs room and stairway used to get to it were both used by dignitaries in years past to avoid being seen by the public.
The wines were delicious. I won't list them all because you need to experience the tour first hand but they were all excellent and Alexis gave us the background on their regional histories and the process used to make and age them.
The food and service were also superb compliments to the tasting. A vegetarian option was available and the mashed potatoes and pork were among the best I've ever had.
I highly recommend Millesiwine Wine Tasting. It may be more expensive than some tours but it's worth it for a genuine taste of Paris.

I had a hard time finding this place, but definitely worth the search! Four of us enjoyed refreshing champagne, lovely tasting wines, meats and cheeses. Alexis was a great part of the whole experience. He was inviting and pleasant, laughing and drinking with us! We learned so much and had so much fun. The ambiance was delightful, starting off in the cellar and moving up to a beautiful dining room. It was one of my favorite things I did in Paris for sure! I very highly recommend partaking in this adventure!

A simply fantastic evening. The setting is wonderful and atmospheric with both the cellars and dining rooms oozing with history. The selection of wines are well thought out and and the level of detail about the process and the history is unparalleled. I would strongly recommend taking the additional cheese and cured meat option as it adds a whole new level to the experience.
Alexis as a host is what makes the experience special, he is friendly and open and is incredibly knowledgeable about wine and a myriad of related topics. We spent hours discussing a huge range of topics and we felt as if we were guests rather than customers.
This is an absolute must for any visit to Paris.

We booked this for our first evening in Paris, hoping to have a nice introduction to French wines. We were pleasantly surprised at just how informative this was, and Alexis was an amazing guide, explaining French wines in detail and, as someone who knew 3 types of wine before the evening (red, rose and white) I now feel that I have a little more understanding of wines and what to look for. We were given copious amounts of bread cheese and meats to balance the wines, so didn't feel overwhelmed by the drink. At the end of the evening, we were left with the remaining wine and the evening ended at our pace rather than being hurried out.
The venue, a restaurant called Pheramond, has an interesting history, and the tasting took part in one of the beautifully decorated private rooms upstairs, still decorated in its original style, which made the experience all the more special.
I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone going to Paris!

We met Alexis at the Pharmond Restaurant for a night of wine tasting and dinner. We started in the restaurant's wine cellar where we shared a glass of champagne and he told us all about the Champagne region. We continued upstairs to our own private dining room that was very romantic. Dinner, dessert and of course the wine and wine region lesson were all above and beyond. If you are looking for something different to do while in Paris, like learning about wine you are in for a treat!

Went based on tripadvisor reviews. Absolutely stunning 1830s restaurant with great history - very Parisian. Original hand painted wall tiles, hand etched glass mirrors - really sets the scene for the night.
Alexis is such a warm, friendly man. He's clearly in the know about what he's talking about and answers all your questions.
Great selection of varied wines from across France. It's actually good value (even though it seems expensive) for 6 wines and a four course meal. Would have been paying double anywhere else in Paris and without the expertise!
It's impossible not to enjoy this evening. Just book, you will not regret it!

This was a great evening. Alexis was very knowledgable about all of the different wine regions in France, and I went from knowing nothing about French wine to knowing a little bit about it.
The pours were heavy, they included a charcuterie platter, and the location was really cool. We did the Friday night group tasting, and had fun meeting the other travelers.
One thing to note - the passageway down into the cellar is a bit tricky. It was built hundreds of years ago, so you have to duck under some low walls and navigate a tiny staircase to get down there, but it was very worth it, super cool to go down there.
